McCain: Go slow on ending military gay ban
UPI ^ | 2010-11-14

WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Sen. John McCain said Sunday he opposes an immediate move to lift the U.S. military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Asked on NBC's "Meet the Press" whether he would block a vote in the lame-duck Congress on repealing the ban on gays and lesbians serving openly, McCain, R-Ariz., said, "I want a thorough and complete study of the effect on morale and battle effectiveness."

"Once we get this study," he said, "we need to have hearings and we need to examine it and we need to look at whether it's the kind of study that we wanted. It isn't, in my view, because I want a study to determine the effects of the repeal on battle effectiveness and morale. What this study is designed to do is to find out how the repeal could be implemented."

He said an Army master sergeant in Afghanistan had told him, "'Senator McCain, we live, eat, sleep and fight together in close proximity. I'm concerned about the repeal.' I would like to know more about it. That's the view that I got from chief petty officers and sergeants all over Afghanistan."

Worst case on McCain Derangement Syndrome I’ve seen lately.

nmh

You do of course realize that there are homosexuals serving today, and possibly some serving in combat.

Fifteen years after DADT, I’m pretty sure the ‘go slow’ part’s already been taken care of. I believe the Senator’s verse for the day is Luke 22:42. ;^)

Perhaps if JD had Sarah’s endorsement/help he could have won the primary.

Most of those in the armed services do not care whether they serve with open homosexuals or not.

Do we not have more urgent pressing issues than this nonsense?

Very well said. The GOP Ruling Class establishment thinks we should be perfectly happy with turncoat RINOs like McCain. Well just give us a little time, and we will clean house/show them how wrong they are. I’m sorry McCain made it back in, but hopefully this is his last hurrah. We’ll get him next time, for sure.

Congress has the authority to regulate the military, not the president.

And the major issue must always be: “Win America’s Wars”

Anything that injures the ability to win is a mistake.

Can McCain be recalled? I would donate to the effort.

Yeah, I’m sure everyone will feel a whole safer if let them serve openly.

I’d cut him some slack on this one. All he needs to do is kill this in the lame duck session, and it’s dead for at least two years. The GOP can probably think of some clever ways to screw any future effort...say laws regarding blood supply and religious freedom of chaplains.

Your post is absdlute bullsh*t. I’ve been around the military most of my life and have yet to meet one who said they didn’t mind serving with open faggotry. Maybe you signed up at the wrong site.

Back at you. This is how you react to the simple posting of an article? Why don’t you try refuting the substance of the report?

Palin’s endorsement screwed up our primary here in GA too. I’m a Palin fan, but some of her endorsements this last go round left a little something to be desired.

Stop lying!

Palin’s endorsee in Georgia didn’t win the primary.

You chose a RINO and you deserved it well!
