Dr. Joseph Mengele was a German physician and a SS Officer in a Nazi concentration camp. He had two doctorate degrees, one from Munich University in anthropology and the other from Frankfurt University in medicine. He was known for being the person who decided which prisoners were going to be killed and which were forced into labor. He also was known for performing experiments on the inmates. He was called the Angel of Death. He liked to do experiments on twins and dwarfs.

I am sure we learned quite a bit from these people.
The CIA (of that era) does not give safe-haven without getting something in return.
This article is just another liberal, anti-American hit-piece.

This is an ancient dilemma. Bad guy is caught. He has valuable information. Are you willing to bargain? It's not an easy question. The answer is likely to depend on the character of his crimes vs. the value of his information.
The issue of the WWII Nazis has lingering political overtones because of the Cold War. Leftists tend not to see the Soviets as an enemy and therefore discount the usefulness of Germans who were willing to collaborate in the anti-communist effort. The moral equation looks easy if you refuse to acknowledge the dilemma.

You are right. I’m sure mistakes were made, but the whole thing has to be viewed in the context of the cold war.

You are right. Im sure mistakes were made, but the whole thing has to be viewed in the context of the cold war. Same thing happened in Japan. We put Japanese germ scientist on the US payroll after WWII even after they had done experiments on US pow's.

Above: Soviet Foreign Minister Molotov signs the Nazi-Soviet Non-aggression Pact while German Foreign Minister Von Ribbentrop and Soviet leader Stalin look on under a portrait of Lenin, August 23, 1939. News of the Pact stunned the world and paved the way for the beginning of World War Two with Hitler assured the Germans would not have to fight a war on two fronts.

What a recipe for a government! Take innumerable escaped (through the Vatican ratline) Nazis, add a pinch of subterfuge, stir in 23 oz. of Communists and stir well. Bake at 70˚for sixty-two years. Add Democrat frosting and serve - makes 300,000,000 servings.

It seems most of these men where scientists and technical experts. They were the war trophies that both the US and USSR rushed to seize for themselves.
To: Erik Latranyi; All
Yes, we did learn quite a bit from these Nazis, all of it bad. Among the skills was the technique of causing innocent people to have split personalities, one or more of which could be trained for use as an assassin. James Earl Ray, Sirhan Sirhan, and Mark David Chapman were among these.
Most people have no idea about the degree to which Nazis penetrated, and gained control of, the CIA. For a good treatment of this, see the book NAZI International, by Joseph Farrell; also the various works of Jim Marrs.

Their ideologies are basically the same - on the History Channel, etc. there are a lot of shows about nazis - almost none about communists. Don’t get me wrong - the nazis were (and are) evil, but the communists were (and are) worse. It is grossly hypocritical that our media doesn’t point out the documented evils of communism over the past century with at least the same enthusiasm as when they’re pointing out the documented evils of the nazis before and during WWII.
