House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she has the “overwhelming support” of fellow Democrats in her bid to become minority leader in the next Congress, and says she’s not to blame for the Democrats’ mid-term debacle.
Getty Images Nancy Pelosi“We didn’t lose the election because of me,” Ms. Pelosi told National Public Radio in an interview that aired Friday morning. “Our members do not accept that.”
Instead, the California Democrat attributes the loss of at least 60 seats to high unemployment and “$100 million of outside, unidentified funding.”
“Any party that cannot turn (9.5% unemployment) into political gains should hang up the gloves,” she said.
The NPR interview is one of the first Ms. Pelosi has granted since a small-but-growing number of Democrats began publicly lamenting her decision to seek the top job in the minority. That list even includes some loyal allies, such as Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan.

It sounds like she’s saying it’s Obama’s fault.
She’s delusional and in deep denial. I hope she hangs on like grim death.
Maybe she’ll offer up her numerous vineyards and restaurants as examples of how she can create prosperity by running a business. No, wait, she can’t do that: they’re all non-union. Profit-destroying unions are for OTHER people’s businesses, not for hers.
They lost because of me....and millions more like me.
Our current straits are the fault of the Progressive policies that have been adopted incrementally over the past century. There’s a lot of blame to go around, and many living and dead Republicans share it.

I wasn’t sure myself, but I find it really funny that ..Any party that created 9.5% unemployment doesn’t hang up the gloves!
Before this plays itself out I bet she decides to “pursue other opportunities”. For right now she’s still got her last string to play out. When it gets down to crunch time I bet she gets the message and chucks it in.
