Sarah Palin Taunts 'Assassin' Kathleen Parker: "I'm still standing"

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin responded on Twitter this morning to the admission by pseudo-conservative TV host Kathleen Parker that Parker "led" the media "assassination" of Palin during the 2008 presidential campaign after Palin became the Republican vice presidential nominee.

While debating Palin supporter John Ziegler on CNN last night, Parker admitted her role:

ZIEGLER: You took part in the targeting of Sarah Palin. You essentially took part in the assassination of Sarah Palin 1.0. That person is dead; she doesn't exist any more.

PARKER: No, no, no. Actually, I did not take part in it: I led it. Let's be clear. Let's get our facts straight.

Palin taunted Parker with her response posted on Twitter today:

Newsbusters thread on FR about the Parker/Ziegler dust-up last night.

She said what they said she said, and her other comments didn't really express anything but her ongoing belief that Palin was out of her league.

She said it ... and then the next sentence, which NewsBusters left out, gave the context: she wrote a column on Sept. 28, questioning Palin's qualifications, before anybody else had done so. "Led" meant "said first." S

So, yes, NewsBusters did, as usual, mischaracterize what she said.

NB has never been a trustworthy source. This is just the latest example.

Very brilliant use of words. She can tweet a short cryptic sentence and have people talking about it for days by saying “admittance” or she could have used “admission” and no one would have given the tweet a second thought.

Well, you’re quibbling about the meaning of “led”. Parker is using it in the sense of “I got the ball rolling, I set the theme” not “I masterminded and coordinated an anti-Palin campaign among journalists.” I don’t think anyone, including Newsbusters, takes it in the latter sense.

I wish I could say I can't believe FReepers fall for that kind of crap. But it's not been possible to do that for a long, long time.
