I'm guessing he thinks that the food is automatically better if you raise the price of it.

I knew a guy like that in college. Rich kid. Always tried to buy the expensive stuff because he was sure that it would be "better". I had a car and I offered to sell it to him for $2000. He said he wasn't interested, because it was pretty broken down, and he wanted something better. So I offered to sell it to him for $5000. The look of bafflement on his face was priceless.

I had a panel truck posted on the web for $2700 for which I paid $1700. I would have been happy with a quick $1000 profit. But I kept getting phone calls asking what’s wrong with the truck? Even though I kept telling them nothing, no one came in to see the vehicle. To stop the phone calls I priced the truck within it’s market range $12700 and sold it that week.
Some people....You just can’t help the clueless.
