Kremlin reportedly dispatches contract killer to US to pursue 'traitor' colonel, claims reputable Moscow newspaper

A contract killer has been dispatched to assassinate the Russian double agent who betrayed Anna Chapman and nine other spies in the United States this spring, according to reports in Moscow.

"We know who he is and where he is," a high-ranking Kremlin source told the reputable Kommersant newspaper.

"You can have no doubt – a Mercader has already been sent after him."

Ramón Mercader was the KGB-hired Spanish communist who was sent to kill Leon Trotsky with an icepick in Mexico in 1940.

Or, they have no idea where they are and are trying to get someone to make a little extra cash and contact the Russians. Ah, the joys of spy logic. Where is Robert Ludlum when you need him.

Anna Chapman

Not to be confused with Graham Chapman

Or Mark David Chapman

Right now, Pravda is more reputable than the NY Times, LA Times, Time Magazine, Newsweek, Boston Globe, CNN, NPR, CBS, ABC, MSNBC...

This doesn't sound like something that would normally be announced. Odd story.

Anna, Graham, and Mark David are all pretty interchangable except that Anna is a lot prettier than the other two.

Whether it was true or not, it sure would scare the crap outta the double agent, though. He'd spend the rest of his years looking over his shoulder, being afraid to go to sleep, afraid to eat, afraid of meeting anyone new, afraid of vehicles, household appliances, public places, and a million other things that only someone in his situation would think of. Come to think of it, it might be a fate worse than assassination.

Oh, boy - did Russia just send the “Dawg” to assassinate that guy?

It would take a whole lot of pepper spray to kill a man... That’s a sucky death.

I mean, there’s the Dawg yelling at you and, like, all 14 of his kids are getting mud on your carpet and he and his crew of dropouts are just hitting you in the face with a non-stop loop of pepper spray; smoking the whole time and ashing on your furniture...

I’d shoot myself with quickness just to get out of that situation.

"Ramón Mercader was the KGB-hired Spanish communist who was sent to kill Leon Trotsky with an icepick in Mexico in 1940."

That would make him what? About a minimum 90 years old now? I hope he brings more than an icepick this time. Can't be terribly quick on his feet...

Thanks LibWhacker. Hey, why should we spend one dime on protecting this joker, when A) he or she made their choice on their own, B) we need to balance the budget, and C) there's nothing in the Constitution that specifically names this guy in advance. ;')

You never, never, never give up a traitor who comes over to your side. If you did, who would ever betray their country to you again. The Brits didn’t give up Benedict Arnold.
