JAKARTA, Indonesia In the Muslim nation that was his boyhood home, President Barack Obama acknowledged today that U.S. relations are still frayed with the Islamic world despite his best efforts at repair. He urged all sides to look beyond "suspicion and mistrust" to forge common ground against terrorism.
Forcefully returning to a theme he sounded last year in visits to Turkey and Egypt, Obama said: "I have made it clear that America is not and never will be at war with Islam. . . . Those who want to build must not cede ground to terrorists who seek to destroy."
Beaming with pride, Obama delivered perhaps the most intensely personal speech of his presidency, speaking phrases in Indonesian to a cheering crowd of young people.
"Let me begin with a simple statement: Indonesia is part of me," he said in Indonesian during a morning speech at the University of Indonesia.
He praised the world's most populous Muslim nation for standing its ground against "violent extremism" and said: "All of us must defeat al-Qaeda and its affiliates, who have no claim to be leaders of any religion. . . .This is not a task for America alone."

"Relations between the United States and Muslim nations have been frayed over many years. As president, I have made it a priority to begin to repair these relations," Obama said.

As president, I have made it a priority to begin to repair these relations
Sorry 0, it takes more than just one side. Your extremists Muslims have to want it too.
I've lived in the Middle East for almost seven years and I'm proud to say I have never once overed my head. I have been in attendance with or have met some pretty high-ranking dignitaries here, but have never kowtowed.
And nobody has disrespected me for it.
With Muslims, you just have to show strength and a lack of fear and they'll respect you. They may not like you, but they'll act respectfully.
Not a happy camper there. I am surprised she’s not in a burka.
I caught some of his speech. I am more and more convinced he is an illegitimate President.
He hates America and her people.
I noticed that the jacket is actually a liitle baggy on her. Maybe she doesn't like the food on this trip! LOLOL
Thanks for the ping.
Islam and all its adherents need to be wiped off the face of the earth.
She is cursing her dresser for these pants. If she had to go barefoot, she needed shorter pants. ANd the jacket is big and baggy for her. Nice color however, she looks good in chartreuse. But the headscarf is a dud, a real dud.
Her clothes always look pulled or wrinkled or malfitting on her. Somebody ought to get fired over this.
She’s pining for the fjords.
I understand the reason for the extra long pants, but the entire suit is ill fitting.
I wonder if this is the same scarf Michelle has to wear in the White House “private residence”?
Another article I read described this pantsuit as “flowing”. Ill-fitting is what I’d call it. And the scarf does not co-ordinate.
I am speechless! Just when I think it couldn’t get worse, she surprises me. She doesn’t look happy, being dressed as a second class citizen. And that pant suit doesn’t fit - it’s like it belongs to someone else!
And then, for him to say we will never be at war with Islam - Islam has announced many times that it is at war with US!
Appalling. Simply appalling.
Good grief, does she have a clue? But it looks better in this pic with the belt.
The Kenyan is our enemy.
I don’t see how anyone can have any doubt as to where this cretin’s sympathies lie.
The man is a pitiful fool.
Islam seeks to destroy us and this stupid POS thinks that if he says good things about the moongod perverted cult long enough and loud enough, it will sway us to see things his way.
Damned Fool.
My wife will be the first to tell you--I have no business commenting on fashion. True, the belted suit looks better, but what the heck is up with the hems on her slacks? The bottoms are dragging on the ground!
