A congressional document that has been posted on the Internet confirms no one not Congress, not the states and not election officials bothered to check Barack Obama's eligibility to be president, and in fact, that status remains undocumented to this day.
It's because state and federal law did not require anyone in Congress or elsewhere to check to see if Obama was a "natural born Citizen" under the meaning of Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution, according the document.
The analysis by the Congressional Research Service, a research arm of the U.S. Congress, openly admits no one in the federal government, including Congress, ever asked to see Obama's long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate. In fact, it explains no one was required to do so.
Technically, the CRS is a public policy research arm of the United States Congress that is organized as a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress; the CRS works exclusively for members of Congress, congressional committees and congressional staff in an advisory capacity, answering questions.

We do. Lots of them. But you made this statement...
You showed me some Supreme Court cases, correct? Those aren't binding on the current Supreme Court.
So, even without being binding in the absolute, stare decisis is important just as Justice Scalia said. What difference does it make if I mentioned what case he used as an example? Either you have an argument that stands on its own merits or you don't. You don't.
Oh cause you say so? Well, all right then. My turn for a red herring I suppose: In other news, gravity has been suspended and 9/11 was an inside job.
Are you going to mount a campaign to keep him out of the Republican debates should he seek run in 2012? Because according to you, it's a cut and dried case that he's ineligible. I think the majority of the law faculty even at a school like Regent would disagree with you there.
I really wasn’t paying any attention to whose site it was. It has loads of sourced information and who Appuzo is didn’t matter to me when I bookmarked it many months ago or now. Personalities don’t impress me much for better or for worse. I look to the quality of information being provided and take the opinions with a grain of salt.
If he isn’t eligible I won’t support him and I will do what I can to shoot his candidacy down on that basis.
Is my opinion worth less than yours?
That’s rich. But I assume you’d have a problem with me linking to the non-partisan FactCheck on this issue because of their funding from Annenberg Foundation, even though pundits on the right side of the spectrum like O’Reilly have used their info on this matter to debunk the birther myths.
No, but you keep saying that I haven’t responded to yours, well I will respond to your claims when you respond to my #118. I’m using a link that you provided. Chin doesn’t mention any of your superstar 19th century cases. I quoted him directly. Where exactly is he wrong? I’m guessing you agree with Chin’s conclusion by the way that McCain is eligible to be president, otherwise why would you be citing him?
Sorry, I meant to say “ineligible” in the last line of my #127, not “eligible”. Chin concluded that McCain was ineligible to be president by virtue of his birth in the no man’s land of the Panama Canal in 1936.
Founder and Historian David Ramsay Defines a Natural Born Citizen in 1789In his 1789 article, Ramsay first explained who the original citizens were and then defined the natural born citizens as the children born in the country to citizen parents. He said concerning the children born after the declaration of independence, [c]itizenship is the inheritance of the children of those who have taken part in the late revolution; but this is confined exclusively to the children of those who were themselves citizens . Id. at 6. He added that citizenship by inheritance belongs to none but the children of those Americans, who, having survived the declaration of independence, acquired that adventitious character in their own right, and transmitted it to their offspring . Id. at 7. He continued that citizenship as a natural right, belongs to none but those who have been born of citizens since the 4th of July, 1776 . Id. at 6.
There is a quote from one of the authors of the 14th Amendment that makes clear that it was not intended to address anyone other than the descendants of slaves but I haven't found it yet.
Fact Check is non-partisan? ROTFLOL So, you are a troll from DU I take it? Bye!
I cited Chin not because I think he is right but because you threw in your own non-sequitur persona a la Jindal. Calling BOR right-wing cinches the fact that you’re a left-wing troll.
And regardless of where O'Reilly's political loyalties lie, he sure owned that birther, and his Fox News audience dwarfs the birthers by a factor of 10.
I'm calling you a troll because you're repeating the same long ago beaten into the dust claims made a thousand times in the last two years. That and your superior-than-thou attitude. Maybe that's just the doctor in you. Been there and dealt with that for the first thirty years of my life. lol
You may think that not all birthers froth at the mouth and actually produce cogent arguments which you seem to be capable of, but you'd be incorrect:
You can't be serious? I wasn't going to bother watching the video until you said that. I watched it. BOR made a complete ass of himself. The only point he had was "nobody cares." Yet polls show that 65% of the population aren't sure where 0bama was born. BOR was actually a bigger buffoon in that segment than he usually is.
I don’t consider the Constitution an issue for a popularity contest. You sound about as deep as 0’Really. As deep as water on a wet sidewalk.
I think her opinion is worth no more than mine. I could not care less what she thinks about it.
Maybe you need to add her to your hatelist also.
Hate list? LOLOL You're getting shallower by the minute.
