Steven Hayes was sentenced to death by a Connecticut jury today for his role in the deadly 2007 home invasion that killed Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her two daughters.
The verdict came halfway through day four of deliberation for the jury that spend the whole weekend holed up in a New Haven courtroom discussing the fate of Hayes, 47.
Hayes is convicted of raping and choking Hawke-Petit to death, while accused accomplice Joshua Komisarjevsky is accused of sexually assaulting 11-year-old Michaela Petit. Michaela and her older sister Hayley, 17, died after they were tied to their beds and the house was set on fire.
The jury had struggled several times during deliberation to agree on a sentence for Hayes. On the first day of delibrations the jurors sent a note to Judge Jon Blue asking, "What does it mean to unanimously find the existence of a statutory mitigating factor?"

Unless some other POS whacks him in the interim.
Great news. Hopefully some inmate can accelerate the process of his demise sooner.
If Jesus is against the death penalty, why did he pay it for us?
I’m sure I will get some bad comments for this, but as much as I think he deserves the death penalty and more, I think it would still be tough to be on a jury and actually do it. I applaud them, I thank them. It’s not something that should be taken lightly, and I’m glad we have people who can go out there, sit on juries like this and come up with a tough and correct decision. Now, I pray for the family of the murder victims to have some sort of peace.
The scumbag killers:
Connecticut is the place where they just elected a man to the U.S. Senate who lied about being a combat veteran. Connecticut should now change its nickname from “The Constitution State” to “The Stolen Honor State”.
It’s amazing when anything correct is done there.
Fox Special Report panel will have to find a replacement for him, not to mention the Weekly Standard will have a job opening.
He was never very Conservative anyway, was a Romney guy
I also read somewhere that Dr.Petit can no longer continue his practice because the baseball bat beating he took to his head was too severe.
***They might get around to killing him by 2030.***
Ecc 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
As Dean Martin said in ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICO...
“We’ll hang him tomorrow right after the trial!”
Heard on the radio report of this sentence that the state of Connecticut has nine men on death row. The last execution was in 1990! I’m thankful to live in Texas, where we think our average of ten years to execution is much too long to pay the bills for murderers and their lawyers.
O! Touche!
I hope he not only imposes the death sentence, but also bans any appeal.
Jesus didn't seem to have a problem with it for the two that were crucified with him. He was concerned about their souls, but didn't question their punishment.
"Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's."
He will die on death row. My only hope is that someone on the inside will serve him quicker.
They should fry this bastard, resurrect him,
and then do it again
As many times as they can
give him the needle tell him its areseninc but just put him to sleep... when he wakes up say “Oops- we missed” and do it again
I cannot think of enough things you could do to this POS
When we get tired of this, tie him to a bed and set the house on fire. So he knows what his victims felt
I hear Texas is putting in an express lane!
In my opinion, this nation has lost the moral authority to exact the ultimate penalty because of its sanctioning of abortion.
I could never sit on a capital crime jury for that reason.
Two wrongs don't make a right. It would be your duty, and after hearing the evidence, you would find the strength.
They have to show they deliberated conscientiously or there might be an overturn of their decision.
Then everybody else who wants to participate directly gets to hunt them down like animals, kill them or disable them however they wish, trus 'em up, flense 'em, then dress them out for a barbeque.
