I agree. Palin is an asset that the Republican party would be wise to use. That said, running her for president will guarantee 4 more years of Obama. She cannot win a national election because the has been successfully marginalized by the media. Independents just aren’t going to come out and vote for her.
We have about a year to find a candidate. In some ways, the longer it takes that candidate to emerge, the better. There will be less time for the media to tear them down.
-—”Independents just arent going to come out and vote for her.”-—
Whatever.
How did McCain and Dole do with those Independents?
It's way too early to say this, plus you're repeating what the journolistas are trying to get America to believe. Just read the amount of articles that are saying the same thing that have been posted in the last few days, there are at least a dozen with the same kind of talking point. It's all journolista meme, and it's too bad you're falling for it.
They said the same about Reagan, and they will say the same about ANY candidate who is not a liberal. "They're dumb, divisive, unelectable, mean spirited, hate the poor.....blah, blah, blah."
Seriously, change the record. We do not judge our candidates by what the media say about them.
Palin is the best candidate of this generation. There are other legitimate contenders, and that's all to the good. But she's the standard against which they must be judged.
Point being, as a Conservative being represented by the Republican Party, I will not support a candidate the media anoints for the nomination. I will support a candidate who best represents my traditional values and beliefs. As of now, I don't have another potential candidate other than Gov. Palin.
Going back to your reply, regardless of who the nominee is, Gov. Palin will be a target to the Left and it's media. Should a nominee use the Governor, they too will be demonized by the media. Should the nominee decide to shun the Governor, they will also alienate many of her supporters (including me), providing for another four years of a Democrat President.
You are a brave soul. Hope you have your asbestos suit on. ;-)
Ummmmm, right, because California has had such success with the likes of Meg Whitman.
We're done with this sort of defeatist thinking. Use CA as an example of bowing down to the libs trying to get their votes....it doesn't work!
She cannot win a national election because the has been successfully marginalized by the media. Independents just arent going to come out and vote for her.
In CA, we ran two moderate women who should have received the independent vote. Both lost. The idea that we have to move to the middle to win elections is wrong-headed. If people are looking for liberalism in their candidates, they are going to vote democrat.
Palin is young enough to work towards 2016 or even 2020, if we can get a Republican in for 2012.
She will be a person who gathers crowds easily & talks sense. She energizes the voters & gets the average American.
That gives her some time to gather more experience with other leaders of the world & to cement her strengths.
I think she has more power than any of us realize.
I remain a staunch Palin for 2012 supporter - see my tagline.
Remember, the DNC/Socialist party and their partners in tge media will trash whoever is the GOP nominee.
Sarah has the advantage of being hit with everything and the kitchen sink and is still ticking. They cannot hit her any harder - she has passed the DNC/Socialist attacks with flying colors.
And finally, sarah has a strong support of independents and any remaining Reagan democrats as her performance during the 2010 cycle has shown.
Sarah is our strongest candidate...and has survived the same attacks that were thrown at Reagan.
Don’t fall for the media line she is damaged goods - if that was true, why would the liberals/press continue to attempt to attack her?
Welcome back to freerepublic, this is your first post in over 2 years, unfortunately you are trying to tell us two years out, that our leading frontrunner cannot win in 2012 and that we need to start working to stop her.
I don’t understand that message, right now the only candidates that do any better in these meaningless polls about the current non-Republican numbers are two candidates that have already run for president, Huckabee and Mitt Romney.
The primary favorite of Republicans at this time is Governor Palin, I don’t think that we have to dump her as you do, don’t you think that you are being a little absurd?
A lot of FReepers are missing the big picture. What makes you think Obama will even be the nominee? This election, and Obama’s continued arrogance, have shown that he won’t move to the right like Bill Clinton did after ‘94. The ‘Rats are going to run against the Kenyan in 2012. Hitlery is looking at her last chance, and there are tons of PUMAs and other PO’ed Democrats who will give it to her.
