Excellent Analysis!

Add in voter fraud and pressue from casino owners on their employees to vote for Reid also made a difference.

The Republican candidate should have won this race easily.
That said, remember the Republicans did not the presidence in 1856. We are remaking the Republican party, we will make mistakes. But 60+ seats in the House 6+ in the Senate and 680+ seats in the various state legislatures is a good start!

I don’t know a lot about Nevada except that it is basically 2 large cities and a whole lot of wasteland. Drove from Vegas to Reno once and there isn’t a lot to fight for there.

Angle is a problem if there were just as conservative a candidate who could have won except for some mishap. As for me, I’ll not ever vote for a rino again. Better a known enemy, than a traitor in your midst.

So, the only other issue is a better conservative losing in the primary to a lesser conservative. If that “better” conservative lost simply because the “lesser” conservative ran a better campaign, then I’d have to say that the “better” was not really “better.”

If the better lost the primary because he got in late, was a virtual unknown, or became ill, etc., then I’ll regret the Angle race. I do think she squandered an awful lot of time.

And then there’s the question of fraud. Perhaps Ronald Reagan himself could not have defeated tampered electronic voting machines.

We’ve GOT to get rid of those things.

Well, that, and possibly quite a bit of vote fraud.

You have to remember the Democrats wanted at least some degree of symbolic victory, if not the real thing, so they did all they could for Hairy Reed and Don Cuomo while leaving many lesser entities WITHOUT CAMPAIGN FUNDS or technical support (meaning, voting machine fixers, etc.)

Democrat triage was public information!

You talk about a FAIL, that was a FAIL.

When you lose the House, you have just lost control of appropriations and taxes.

There is nothing wrong with blasting the media as long as you stay on message while you do it.

Example:

“It does not help the economy of this state when you ask biased and inflammatory questions. Let’s get back to what matters to the people of this state. That is my focus and it should be yours. I don’t think the unemployed people in this state appreciate it when you ask me about witchcraft.
Now, here is what I will be doing when I get to Washington...”

Something else that Harry had on his side. 12% of his vote was from the Latinos and over 90% of their vote was for him. He has been promising them the “Dream Act” during the last few weeks of campaigning.

These were due to her getting off the message that the economy sucks and it’s Harry Reid’s fault.

On the other hand, this didn't work too well for Alvin "DeMint caused the recession" Greene.

Very, very good analysis.

BUT while the Angle campaign may not have been decisive, by making Harry worried, Dem contributors were forced to divert valuable extra resources to him that might have helped other Dem candidates win.

Sort of like Nazi Germany having to take anti-tank guns away from the Eastern Front to use against Allied bombers.

So, a Pyrrhic victory for Harry?

The next war was World War II. That war was won by overwhelming the Axis powers by logistics, not strategy.

Good article, with good military analogies. Where it breaks down is in this statement. If Hitler had not attacked Russia and had to divide his forces, he would have been able to repel any invasion of Europe, no matter the logistics brought to bear against him.

The GOP is terrible at GOTV effort. I would say they have No effort.

The GOP in Indiana is just awful. Theu usually never offer much support unless a RINO like Lugar is running.

This seems to be a problem in many states. Sonething needs o change if we are to win the big ones.

Isn’t it interesting that every arm chair quarter back would have had the candidate up by double digits with a flawless run up to the election? Never any mention of how anything the conservative candidate said would have been twisted to mean something different then what they really meant. No mention of the GOP leadership wetting their undies when their carefully programmed for leadership candidate lost to a candidate who foolishly thought we should adhere to constitutional principles the people actually chose.

They somehow fail to mention that the leadership of the GOP is so stuck on the power hungry “my turn” mentality and inside the party power struggle that they really don’t care about the people. If they really did care the experienced handlers would have been sent to assist the Angle, O’Donnell, Miller, and other campaigns with all the power of the Party behind them. But no, The candidates that truly wanted to clean up the mess in Washington were shunned by the Party, vilified by the press no matter what they said, and still today fight by themselves to hold out for victory.

Arm chair quarter backs are about as useful as the south end of a dead horse facing north. Most of the time they only stunk up the place while they are alive and aren’t adding anything to the good of the cause now.

this strikes me as mostly self-serving and irrelevant campaign consultant clap-trap.

here is the real story from my relatives in reno: harry reid came from behind on the last day because of two actions angle had no way to oppose: (1) his furious ground game (gaming industry support, union arm twisting, free food, free taxis to get out the vote, and on and on).

and (2) because most of the nevada republican establishment were actively knee-capping her, resulting a significant enough portion of rank and file republicans not turning out and/or voting against her for reid.

in other words, reid won because he had a ground game and sharron angle was denied one by her own party. reid won because the much of the republican establishment was actively working for reid (check the endorsement for reid by the repub mayor of reid, for example).

It’s interesting that Sandoval ran so far ahead of both Reids, Rory and Harry, and that there were quite a few more votes cast in the governor’s race.

Angle lost because of voter fraud pure and simple. It is unbelievable that practically the whole state could turn Republican and Harry Reid keeps his seat. Even Harry’s son lost!!!

The conservatives need to quit pussy-footing around the issue.

I call BS. One can not explain the result in any way other thna fraud. Aparently most are unwilling to say so, but how else do you go from “up 4%” to a 6% loss in ONE DAY. With SEIU running the machines there is no doubt what occurred in Nevada and why the GOP lets it pass is beyond me. The FIRST investigation the New House needs to begin is into this election. IMHO

She didn’t explain herself very well. The Reid debate, both of them came across like kids at their first High School debate.

And Angle was very deceitful, and transparently so, when asked to back up her statements about Reid giving Social Security to illegals. I would have found greater comfort in her character if she had just said, well, maybe I got a little carried away, or something like that, instead of saying, Absolutely, I will back it up, and then not giving a single shred of an argument to back up her claims, and going on about saving social security for the old people.

I mean, this is the kinda crap we are trying to get away from, right?
