The GOP's Sarah Palin problem
Wash Post ^ | 11/5/10 | Michael Gerson

Posted on 11/05/2010 9:40:41 PM PDT by pissant

At their new political high-water mark, Republicans have plenty of reasons to celebrate - and at least one large cause for worry.

On Election Day, voters shattered the Obama agenda of expanded public benefits and increased income tax progressivity, leaving the president to reassemble his goals with glue and tape. During this midterm cycle, Republicans became reacquainted with estranged friends: independents, seniors, college-educated voters, working-class voters, rural voters and suburban voters. The Republican Party will benefit from the infusion of diverse, attractive new leaders, including some, such as Florida Sen.-elect Marco Rubio, with Tea Party pedigrees.

You are sooo right. Meanwhile, Rove and Cornyn and the other using media
attacked the GOP-election-chosen candidates
as they withheld money they collected.

In the end, she won independents. Repubs were led away from her
by Rove and his employer.

She would have been Senator TODAY (not January 2011)
had not backstabber Rove attacked, and attacked, and flayed
and the SOBs Cornyn and Romney not withheld $$$$$$ (for themselves).

Leftist propagandists have spilled barells of ink telling us how bad Palin is for the republican party. That indicates one thing - liberals are terrified of Palin.

And their screeds get more stupid and feeble with each passing day. They have become clownish caricatures of Goebbel’s Ministry of Enlightenment and Propaganda.

I wish Palin well and hope she makes tons of money but the specter of her daughter on 'Dancing with the Stars' weirds me out. Enough is enough already!

Yeah, Ron Reagan Jr. in a tut weirded me out so I guess, by your standards, I shouldn't have voted for the guy...

"I wonder if Jesus appreciates your dig?"

Proving my point that you confuse Jesus with Sarah Palin (Hint...SP is the one with cute legs). My "dig" was aimed at people like you that confuse the two.

We had two actual conservatives - Akers and Didier - prior to the establishment funneling all their $$ and effort to Mr. Milquetoast...

Who then proceeded to lose in the primary. Do you have a point?

The GOP must listen to the Tea Parties or it may be time to make a new political party (like take over the Constitutional Party). We need to sweep the GOP away if they are just the right branch of the Democrat Party. The next two years are very important.

>> Perhaps Ronald Reagan would have said “ Sarah Palin is not the problem, GOP is the problem!”<<

I tend to agree with that and another thing just crossed my mind. Which of the entrenched GOP elite belong to such groups as the Bildergergs etc. Is the fear from the GOP of outsiders somehow connected?

Absolutely agree. The GOP needs to get the “Old” out of their name. It need to become the NCP (New Conservative Party). When things get too old they stink and decay.

True. I’m getting tired of these dupes with Palin Deification Syndrome. They keep pretending what isn’t is.

They are almost as annoying as the RINOS like this author who do the same thing.

Rossi won the primary...

Discussions about best/most conservative candidates are academic. In the end, it's about getting votes.

Rossi did.

California, like Washington, will someday re-learn that rock ribbed conservatism is the way to beat democrats.

pissy should call it the “1% Hunter thread” !

pissy is quite the loser to continue promoting someone who received 1% of the 2008 primary vote.

Yep, pissy is correctly named!

That’s another defect with Palin Worshipers. There are a lot of Palin supporters by the way...my beef isn’t with them. My beef is with those, like yourself, who follow her in a cult like way. Bet you have a photo of her over your bed, but I digress. Palin Worshipers believe anybody that doesn’t support her MUST be a liberal Democrat or a troll or some such nonsense. Why else would they not support the anointed one?
