NEW YORK, NY – Former recent Delaware senatorial candidate and Tea Party favorite Christine O'Donnell took a bold stance in a pointed interview on NBC's “Today Show.”

Host Meredith Veiera challenged Ms. O'Donnell with a litany of tough questions, asking if Sarah Palin failed her and if Ms. O'Donnell’s principled campaign cost the GOP seats in her election and others down ballot. Undaunted, O'Donnell fired back at the Delaware and national GOP establishment with the truth behind the campaign.

O'Donnell explained how GOP insiders maneuvered to undermine her campaign from day one. According to O'Donnell, the beltway political class joined forces with the Delaware GOP to silence the voice of the people. In O'Donnell’s view, it was not her insistence on principle which caused her loss, but the refusal of the political ruling class to fully support her, who could not forgive O'Donnell for soundly defeating their hand-picked, establishment candidate - Mike Castle - in the primary, O'Donnell continued. Castle never did endorse O'Donnell upon her win, which is an unusual public rebuke, even after a rancorous primary.

Without party backing, O'Donnell’s campaign claims they had to build the get out the vote effort from scratch in just six short weeks, ultimately costing her the election. O'Donnell told Veiera, however, the backroom machinations went much farther. Washington D.C. political insiders undermined her campaign, including Karl Rove, Vice President and former Delaware Senator Joe Biden, and according to some even the White House.

Faced with such powerful foes, O'Donnell remained committed to what she described as "giving a voice to the voiceless." Standing up for the political interests of everyday Delawareans, like the farmers and workers who make the state great. She concluded the interview, assuring Delaware that she will continue her fight to represent small government, lower taxes, and the traditional values that make America strong.

Whether you wish to acknowledge it or not; O'Donnell speaks the truth in this instance. Rove, Cornyn and their ilk do far more destruction to the “GOP/Conservative image” ...but then, they're not really “Conservatives,” are they.

Never trust anybody who referes to himself in the third person...it’s a sign of character flaws.

Hopefully I’ll be able to see Christine on TV frequently. This is a good sign.

Conservatives and Republicans have never been the same. Ever notice how they call a RINO like McCain or Lindseed a conservative? I have even heard them call Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe conservatives.

Must be done to sully the conservative brand and blur it in the minds of the people.

Maybe instead of just a R by the name we need to put a CR or a LR before their names.

Delaware’s congressional seat will be up in two years. She just might be back...

I think a 17 point loss is more than just “Karl Rove/Establishment GOP” type effect. At some point, being a bad candidate counts for more, especially in a 17 point blowout.

I am very concerned now that the Establishment RINO's will pull the same crap on Michelle Bachman getting into a Leadership Position; they don't want ANY Conservatives messing with the "Power Structure" in the RINO's Party.

I have to agree. At some point, no matter how conservative she is, you have to question things like this: Mice with fully functioning human brains? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_4if1x1pH8

I surmise that she'll not only be back but stronger than ever. Her principled stand for Conservatism is what America needs. And her utter dismantling of Coons during the debate revealed that she has the intelligence and savvy to win.

In 20/20 hindsight, the "I'm not a witch" commercial was ill-advised. A ruthless campaign of attack ads on the bearded Marxist may have made the difference in the senate race.

The first time I heard her on the radio, she whined about how she couldn;t get any support. That was 3 months ago. I see nothings changed. Too bad.

She didn’t “damage” anyone’s image. The multiple exclamation points and ellipses, bad grammar, and use of the feminist “Ms” identify you as a troll.

It certainly didn’t help her cause that Rove and the establishment, along with a few on this forum, kept telling the voters just how bad a candidate they thought she was. She was behind the 8 ball as soon as she defeated the rino Castle.

You make a valid point about it being more than Pudge Rove’s estrogen-triggered hissy-fit that did COD in. His hissy-fit cost her eight or nine points coming out of the primary when she should have had a substantial bump.

That momentum could have carried her to steadily building her base of support — excerpt for one major problem: not her, but her campaign staff. As many of us said when her inept communications advisers launched their first, totally off-message “gee-are-I-oh-so-cute” ad, COD needed to can the kids and bring in some adults.

She didn’t do it, and the inept staffers continued to burnish the exact opposite the exact opposite of the image she needed to portray: that of a mature, savvy, sophisticated woman ready to be a senator of whom the people of Delaward could be proud.

I believe that is the image COD herself presented in her appearances. But, she was unable to overcome her own staff’s pure idiocy.

COD is better than Patty Murray. You RINOs are such sore loserwomen.

She whined? She told the truth about the old boys club, and they did what they do to real conservatives. This cannot stand. R does not equal conservative. Fortunately people are waking up and rejecting this R label for a C label.

All Coons had to do was run a clip of that interview. The race would’ve been over the next day.

We live in a weird world, do we not?

(1) COD is really a bit of a callow jerk, just far better a person and a candidate than the strange, sexually ambiguous Marxist millionaire whom she faced.

(2) I am impressed in a positive way with Christine O'Donnell. The Republican elite and Castle lack integrity because they did not instantly get behind Christine as the winner of the Republican Primary. There is no excuse for the lack of support and undermining of her campaign.

(1) and (2) are absolutely true, IMHO.
