Blowback to the political donation is immediate, and shocking.
Statement from Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC:
I became aware of Keiths political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay.

Thanks for the link. Uh-oh, brendan forgot to follow lock step with the sheeple...
The Hatch Act doesn't apply, but... journalistic integrity does. NBC has a policy forbidding political donations to the politicians they cover.

Let’s get behind the REAL REASON why Keith O was suspended ... he’s not bringing in the audience they need.
They want to test another replacement to see if he/she can do a better job.
This official reason is as bogus as NPR firing Juan Williams for the statement he made at O’Reiley. We know NPR’s REAL REASON.

Do you see any problem with him interviewing someone on his show just after he donates to them? Seems over the top biased.

They didnt know where he stood? Where he stands is one thing. Who he writes checks to is a whole 'nother thing.

Okay. I know that must be Senator John Kerry’s son. Who is the blond with him?

Sounds like a rouse by Comcast to start cleaning up the failing channel. It is about money, and Keith and the rest just don’t bring home the bacon.

fox will hire him... you just watch. If they did that, they'd have to change their motto to "Fair and Unbalanced".

If they are a private network, they can be as biased as they want, if they think it is best for their business, I can simply choose not to support them.
If it were a tax-payer supported network, like PBS, then yes, I might have a problem with it. But of course in this case it was MSNBC's call.

2 things that don’t seem right here....
First, they suspend KO cause he contributes to Dem candidates. Wait, I thought pretty much everyone at MSNDNC contributes to them. What’s the big deal?
Second, since nobody watches, isn’t this move basically addition by subtraction???

Hmmmmm - I think you’re right... They could put a test-pattern up for his hour, and probably draw a larger - and brighter - audience....

With Comcast coming in maybe they decided to sacrifice this douche bag in hopes of keeping everyone else.

I’m late to this thread. And I was gonna reply in very much the same way as you did. But I wondered if anyone else saw the almost identical connections between Older-woman’s firing and that of Juan Williams.
And you picked up on it. Good job.
Geez! These liberal “news” agencies are all alike. They must follow the same game plan.

Okay, it's looking like some people are mixing up the facts. Olbermann wasn't suspended for donating to Democrat candidates.
He was suspended for donating to Democrat candidates *BEFORE* getting the okay from MSNBC higher uppers--as was part of his contractual agreement (something to do with 'ethics').
The DUmmies are starting to get mad now that the initial shock and denial is wearing off...words of 'boycotting MSNBC', never watching again (well, except for that popular guy's show, "Rachel Maddow", they really seem to love him!) to citing links showing what all the journalists/aides, etc on all MSM sites have donate to politicians...they aren't going to take this lying down! It's so bad they're even talking about *gasp* FREEDOM OF SPEECH issues here...< giggles >
