Blowback to the political donation is immediate, and shocking.
Statement from Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC:
I became aware of Keiths political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay.

I hope MadCow is next. I'll bet her "partner" has contributed. The Mandow is on the right.

""Anyone working for NBC News who takes part in civic or other outside activities may find that these activities jeopardize his or her standing as an impartial journalist because they may create the appearance of a conflict of interest," it says. "Such activities may include participation in or contributions to political campaigns or groups that espouse controversial positions. You should report any such potential conflicts in advance to, and obtain prior approval of, the President of NBC News or his designee." "LOL!!!!! The irony!

I'm heading over to the DUmp to see what's up. If you're not back here in 30 minutes, I'm calling the rescue team.

BWAAA HAAA HAAAAA
I think a few cash donations can’t compare to the continual stream of “in kind” donations aka propaganda which the Olberdork provided nightly to liberals on his worthless show, but still, rules are rules (or should be).
This may all simply be a pretext to get rid of the bozo but it couldn’t happen to a nicer, er, bigger a-hole.
Maybe KO can have a special webcast show to DUers and DailyKosFreaks.... b/c what sane TV entity would touch him with a 50 ft pole?

I hate to defend a crazy lefty, but the corporate policy is stupid and hypocritical.
At least with Olberman you knew what you were getting. It is the slimy liberals who claim to be “objective journalists” that we need to worry about.
Not only should they be allowed to make political contributions, they should be encouraged to do so and to disclose it on the air.
Viewers have a right to know the political views of broadcast personalities.

And I wonder what the donations records are of *all* the cable anchors, from MSNBC to CNN to Fox. What does it matter? He broke MSNBC rules, not the law. So why should anyone care how the other networks would have taken care of the same situation?

If this is true....GREAT. He is one of the most obnoxious jackasses on all television.
Maybe the CEO is just giving a warning for when Comcast takes over in a few months...the rest of these slobs (Matthews, Maddow, Schultz)pay attention.

He brings in way too many viewers for them to let him go."
