If you are not aware of this, you should be, before you vote. I taught in SM Schools and support funding for a strong public education system. I demonstrated my belief by attending SM Schools as did both of my children.
Amanda Grosserode does not understand the importance of our public schools and has demonstrated that lack of understanding by withdrawing her own children from public schools in favor of home schooling.
Was it the Pacific ornithology issue, with the pictures of the brown boobys?
The one time I heard R J Rushdoony in person, someone asked what discipline the church could bring upon members with kids in public school. "None," he replied. "GOD will punish them. If we attempt to discipline them, we will drive them away from the ministry of the Word." As long as people show up and sit under a godly pulpit, God will work change in their lives.
Meanwhile, they set themselves up for a world of heartbreak. And it may not be our place to get between an erring soul and God's displeasure.
Dear goodness...
Pretty sure that was the one. LOL. They were definitely brown and boobys.
Nicely put. I am really into hyperbole myself, but many on this thread apparently are not.
No, but the deck is stacked in favor the house, and the house (almost) always wins -- 85-95% of the time, anyhow. That's the percentage of evangelical kids who walk away from church as soon as they leave home.
OTOH, 95% of home-schooled kids either agree with, or, more frequently, strongly agree with, the faith of their parents.
Picture two doors.
I think you know what I mean... EVERY page had some photo or other (Non-graph) image.
It seems like a mental crutch. I can’t think of any authors worth adult reading, who need visuals for expression
Oh, that was fun!!!
I know EXACTLY what you mean. I used to teach high school science in the public schools. I got a new job and was moving into a new classroom. My colleague and I were unpacking the Earth Science textbooks. When we started looking through the simplistic wording and enormous number of pictures, we were certain that they had sent us the books meant for the elementary school. We actually contacted the office, only to find out that these indeed were supposed to be high school level. They are practically glorified comic books.
Public Schools aren’t fully to blame for those statistics.
“It is far better for a child to be brutally murdered than to be transformed into a mindless leftist monster. There are things worse than death. It would better for their throats to be cut instead of their souls.”
Your statements presume that publics schools always and completely turn every person into a mindless soulless monster.
I have no doubt that most of the posters on this board are products of public schools. We are obviously not mindless soulless monsters.
I am no fan of public schools. They are not of overall benefit to us. They do harm. But they don’t predictably turn each and every attendee into a mindless soulless monster.
Did you go to public school? I did. It was a bad experience. I don’t send my kids. But I am not a mindless soulless monster.
Very little chance. Too many corrupting influences even if they are fortunate enough to get good teachers.
Quite a few survive but none leave unscathed. I went to a public school which was fantastic when it came to academics but there was nearly nonstop leftist indoctrination. It did it’s toll.
Let me take this opportunity to announce a brand new FReeper “B”. He and all his sibs are and will be homeschooled - out of the reach of leftist teachers and educated with the knowledge that their purpose in life is to glorify God.
Is that a little b then?
I take it congratulations are in order....
“It did its toll.”
Absolutely, it left its toll on all of us; but not tantamount to murder in the vast majority of cases.
Says the moron.
I’m in the won’t category.
And there are PLENTY of people who SHOULDN’T!!
Your mom is a murderer.
That charge is made as if it were negative. Well-informed people know better.
