In what has become one of the stranger twists in an already bizarre Governor's race, a bag of uncounted ballots was found in Bridgeport Thursday night.
Republican officials were approached by Democratic operatives and told about the surprise ballot bag, according to Bridgeport GOP Chairman Marc Delmonico.
It adds to the inconsistencies from the Democratic Party in Bridgeport. It just keeps adding to it, said Delmonico. Theres nothing odd about it; theres certainly nothing missing about it, said Ed Maley, a representative for the Democratic Party.
Delmonico said Democrats asked to have several people deputized to count the uncounted ballots, but Republicans objected, claiming that wasn't proper procedure in the vote-counting process.
These ballots are getting extraordinarily heightened scrutiny. Theyre being dealt with in a public fashion, an open public process so that everyone can witness it, said Mark Anastasi, the city attorney for Bridgeport.
Instead the GOP asked police to take custody of the bag of ballots until the matter could be sorted out.
The votes could be pivotal in the race for Governor, in which neither candidate has conceded defeat.
Wednesday, Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz declared Democrat Dan Malloy the "unofficial" winner, but numbers released by her office show Republican Tom Foley still leading Malloy by more than 8,000 votes. Those totals do not include any of the vote totals from the City of Bridgeport.
Bridgeport has become the focal point of what has turned into a circus of an election.
A ballot shortage led to long lines on Election Day, and a judge issuing an order to keep polls open until 10 p.m. Tuesday, two hours longer than every other town in the state.
Because of the shortage, many of the votes cast Tuesday were done so on photocopied ballots.
Election officials began counting those ballots just after 5 p.m. Thursday when the new bag of uncounted ballots was discovered.
Bysiewicz said she didn't expect the vote totals from Bridgeport to be submitted to her until Friday at the earliest.
No, I was talking about the reply #33 on this thread.
>>Same thing happened, yesterday, in a Texas district. Dim lost...but, wait!! A bag of ballots was found! And every vote was for the dim!!!<<

Does it surprise anyone that voter fraud is suspected in Missouri?
Did I mention that the self proclaimed winner, Democrat Russ Carnahan, is the brother of the Missouri Secretary of State, Robin Carnahan?

you might want ti take some Cipro and antibiotics first
Even worse is when “impartial” judges rule that the ballots are valid and must be counted, no matter that there is almost a 100% chance that the votes are fraudulent.
Until they do this will never be fixed.
Didn’t see that one.
If they are really smart this Bridgeport fiasco is a diversion from the real cheating done other cities.
Democratic operatives wink.
In anything other that our voting system, which is undoubtedly one of WORST and most corrupt in the world, any evidence where the chain of custody cannot be verified is thrown out.
If our criminal courts worked the same way as our voting system, the prosecution could “find” previously undiscovered evidence months or years after the crime and the judge would allow it in a court of law.
Which is why Dems will never let these type of measures take effect.
Thanks. Will check it in a few.
The real question is why do Republicans never prosecute the election crooks when they have a chance . . . (Yes, that is a bit of an overstatement, but on the whole, they miss most of the prosecution opportunities, even as they send armies out to harass small business folk.)
They have to wait for the preliminary count to be over so they’ll know how many ballots they need to gin up in order to win..........
When have you ever seen a ballot with the voter's name on it?
The Republicans are scared of being called racists and trying to “disenfranchise” minority voters.
They have no spine.
They have no cajones.
They are political cowards at their core.
The Republican Party of Connecticut will roll over............
Happens up here in WA state all the time. The ballots are invariably "found" by Dems, in Dem-controlled counties, in close elections.
If we DO start playing their game, we will be worse off because we can never be guaranteed of a fair election. What we need is for this Congress to establish uniform voting and ballot custody laws for the entire United States.
First, do away with mail in ballots for anyone not actually outside the country or the state on election day. Most states have early voting so there is little excuse for not showing up. As we have seen, this is nothing but a way for Rats to stuff the ballot box with fake ballots.
Second, establish firm laws regarding the chain of custody. Have representatives of all parties to witness the number of ballots at the start of the election and the number of ballots, cast and still blank, at the end of the election. Serialize the ballots with bar codes. All unused ballots are to be counted, their serial numbers recorded and then taken into custody. This won’t stop ballot box stuffing, but it will reduce the number of “found” ballots.
Third, eliminate electronic voting machines that do not have a paper trail. There is no reason that the machine could not print your selections and allow you to view them through a window to verify them. If there is an anomoly, you call the judge over who stamps “VOID” on it and you BOTH initial your ballot. The electronic tally from that machine is then declared unreliable and the paper ballot is used for the tally from that machine.
Fourth, force EVERYONE to present a government issued photo ID before the are allowed to vote.
Fifth, require all states purge their voting records of the dead and those ineligible to vote six months before the presidential elections. Require people to renew their voter registration IN PERSON once every 4 years.
Sixth, eliminate “same day registration”.
Ballots should be serialized like lottery tickets.
All ballots should be accounted for, even if they are “soiled” or otherwise to be discarded.
There should be no “found” ballots, especially TWO DAYS AFTER THE ELECTION!..............
