New Delhi: The White House will, of course, stay in Washington but the heart of the famous building will move to India when President Barack Obama lands in Mumbai on Saturday.

Communications set-up, nuclear button, a fleet of limousines and majority of the White House staff will be in India accompanying the President on this three-day visit that will cover Mumbai and Delhi.

He will also be protected by a fleet of 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier, which will patrol the sea lanes off the Mumbai coast during his two-day stay there beginning Saturday. The measure has been taken as Mumbai attack in 2008 took place from the sea.

I cannot adequately express the rage I feel about this entire trip. The timing, the cost, the ludicrousness of zero’s refusal to go to their temple, his hatred of the military and his use of it to protect himself, all of it.

It makes my head explode. $200 million a day to cart his lying commie ass over there.

With all his education, I guess he never studied the French Revolution.

34 ships... can you imagine the reaction by the media if this were a Republican Emper-, er, President ?

I seem to remember a past President who went to visit one warship once. The media complained about it for years. Even years later, they went into fits of incessant whining about it for weeks on end. Perhaps that was only because he actually bothered to greet the sailors on that particular warship.

Meanwhile, back in the land of the sacred cow, Great Leader and his mighty 4,000 can (after the nuclear / chemical / and or biological smoke clears) return safe and victorious.

Munchausen by proxy.

The significance I observe in the larger picture, is the shaping of the government to support this type of operation.

There have been many a JTF supported with fewer assets with higher risks and greater tasks to perform.

When assessing the scope of this activity, the novel aspect is that the POTUS is being dual hatted as the CINC of his personalized JTF, and this organizational structure is being planned by military and civilian planners.

Most conspiracy theories in the past may be cast aside as infeasible and impractical, but the military and security civilian forces are very good at taking direction, then organizing efficient systems to implement that guidance, even if it is fundamentally corrupt.

In this situation, we essentially have a JTF formed, in direct support of the POTUS in overseas diplomacy. Logistically, we’ve simply continued to expand upon a Secret Service entourage, to now an entire Cabinet and staff level entourage.

Regardless the outcome of this particular trip, I would fully expect future governmental planners to use operations such as this one, as a boilerplate for inter-agency coordination, staffing, and implementation of their orders.

Some have noted that 34 ships out of some 238-436 ships attributable to US naval forces are tasked in this endeavor.

Since the US Navy has held more active deployment schedules in the last decade than many since the Vietnam war, it isn’t unreasonable to project for every deployable ship, there are 2 others either returning, under repair, or being prepared for future deployment.

This means that for the 238-436 ships in the naval forces, about 74-145 ships are available for all sustainable deployments. If 34 have been dedicated for Obama’s entourage, then essentially the US has formed a battle fleet from over 1/5 to half of its available naval forces.

Even if this were a 3 day exercise, it would be a significant maneuvering and deployment of logistical resources.

Let’s say this is simply a show of force, a rehearsal, a blind drill to test the ability of national forces in how to respond to any national level threat,....then one deliverable consequent of this endeavor is the OpOrder and logistical planning for such an exercise.

The negative aspect is that it doesn’t focus on current US policy of a POTUS as CIC residing in the US during a conflict, but instead turns his role into an international Caesar roaming the globe in whatever endeavor he seeks.

Interesting logistics. I’ve always been intrigued by naval strategy. At first, I was dubious too. But time has passed with no disaster at home. So, why the show of force?

I think it’s a shot across China’s bow. The US and India are strategic partners against China, both ecoomically as well as in a military sense. India needs us. Our economic systems are compatible, and China’s tankers pass through those waters.

That hurt China’s bond investments and any remaining Chinese reliance on the US dollar. China’s ticked. Prior to that, China has been arrogant, seeking to bully us in multiple ways, hoping to establish dominance to bully Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, and India.
