A source close to Eric Cantor tells CNN that the Republican congressman will announce his intention to run for House majority leader at 10:45 a.m. in a written statement.

We have more young guns coming up than the Dems. All they have is old, fat, white men and the Black Caucus.
True, TV changed it.
How in the world did Barney Frank get elected? A lot of stupid and/or blind people in MA? LOL!
Good point, but nonetheless, they are often rewarded with leadership.
Precisely. That's how we ended up with Bob Dole (1996) and Juan McLame (2008).
Wonderful! He is extremely capable.
Don’t blame him for that.
Love is blind.
Bohner is going to be Speaker of the House!
Erik Cantor will be a great Majority leader!
If she wants it, she can run for it.
You must run for a leadership position.
Would you describe these two as warriors? Or just as debators/legislators?
Have they (Boehner and Cantor) held the Republican minority together through a series of test votes over the past two years? Does that not define them as "warriors"?
Their warrior-hood is not in question. We are only now going to discover whether they are effective debaters/legislators.
I meant no disrespect. I guess what I'm asking is whether they are the kind to strategize a big vision plan to really advance the conservative cause over the next two years to not only get legislation through congress but help set up for more true Constitutional conservatives to be elected and a true conservative POTUS put in the white house? This will take more energy and effort than traditional beltway politics.
Plus, will they be good conservatives or RINO/elites? This is a very serious question. Will they be in cahoots with Rove, etc. or with the Tea Party Caucus in the House, for instance? I don't know enough about them to know these things.
They appear to know what their job is: to lead the House toward doing what the people have conclusively said they want.
I would not expect of either that they will emerge as "leaders of public opinion". That's not their job. Instead, their role is to lead the House Republican caucus -- keep them in the straight and narrow and responsive to the voters.
They did a reasonably good job of this when they were in the minority, there's no reason to think that they won't do a good job in the majority.
Any "big vision" is going to come from the presidential candidates. That's their job -- to capture the public's interest and lead the nation in a specific direction.
View legislators as mechanics running the Service Dept. Presidential candidates are supposed to provide direction and leadership.
Thanks for this. It's very helpful. :0)
‘Overall, those who make snide remarks based solely on a persons appearance ....well, they give us all a bad image.’
Heck, somebody has to be on the shallow end of the pool!
“This would overshadow Nancy’s nonsense about being the best speaker in history.”

She actually WAS the best schizophrenic speaker of the house.
Thank you so much for that explanation. It makes very good sense and taught me the ways of the House.
I used to be wild about Cantor, but he’s been worrisome at times. I’ve also read that he and his wife are regular guests on the Washington cocktail scene with the Beltway press, incumbents (senior Republicans) and democrats. I do NOT like such cozy relationships.
“I do NOT like such cozy relationships.”
Me either onyx. Not in Washington for sure. I don’t know very many conservatives that hang out with liberals at all unless they are in their families or are longtime and/or childhood friends. Liberals use to not bother me that much years ago. But after becoming more informed about politics and more committed to conservative principles about 10 years ago... I really want as few liberals in my life as possible....lol. Besides..they aren’t that much fun to hang out with as a general rule. Too humorless and sour...lol.
