A source close to Eric Cantor tells CNN that the Republican congressman will announce his intention to run for House majority leader at 10:45 a.m. in a written statement.

Pence then Boehner..no Cator. No deal, no compromise no nada!
Bachmann. She and DeMint are easily my two favorites coming back. She will be a leader in this Congress whether she’s voted into a leadership position or not. I think for many she’s now the standard-bearer for conservatives in the House.
I dislike Cantor because his wife is a Liberal. Saw them on 60 Minutes and CSpan and I just can’t teust a Republican/conservative who has a liberal wife.
Yep!
“The Majority Leader of the United States House of Representatives acts as the leader of the party that has a majority of the seats in the house. They work with the Speaker of the House and the Majority Whip to coordinate ideas and maintain support for legislation.”
Paul Ryan is the best IMO. Smart, articulate and with passion. For the shallow in America he’s got the looks too.
It appears that to many Freepers speed read to the point they don't grasp what is actually written.
Whoever the speaker is, when Obama starts whining next year, the new speaker should just reply, “We WON.”
Who is in line for Whip?
Sorry about “assuming” but the story was not clear (imagine that) and it sounded like Cantor was moving against someone. The story should have explained the leadership positions and who holds them now. If it is “monkey move up”, then it is not even news! (but I digress). I did “some” research but did not find anything clear, like Wikipedia usually is to lay it out.
You’ve never looked lovelier.
I’d hit that. LOL
:)
I agree; get Bachman out there front and center. She’s bold, smart, conservative, and attractive. (Like it or not, ever since JFK, “attractive” has been important.)
After reading comments on this thread:
Overall, those who make snide remarks based solely on a person’s appearance ....well, they give us all a bad image.
He deserves the chance to lead, despite my affection for people like Michele Bachmann. If he screws up, she can replace him later.
I’d forgotten something until I stumbled onto his Wiki bio tonight....he was one of the original gang who blew the whistle on the house bank and post office scandal!
What a long time ago, seems like!
Folks, wake up. Notwithstanding the many qualities of Bachmann and other firebrands, we need an experienced legislative team to manage the House. We are now responsible for running a portion of the government.
A leadership slot is NOT the place for a bomb-thrower, unless you want us to be in the majority for 2 short years.
Boehner-Cantor-McCarthy-Sessions have proven capable of the promotions. They kept every GOP member voting NO against BOcare, and nearly all voted NO against the stimulus when BO was at the height of his popularity. This team also just engineered a 60 seat pickup in the House.
Freepers need to learn that American politics and public policy are played within the 30 yard lines. Learning at National Review is a good start.
Good. Boehner will probably get it anyway, but he should have to earn it rather than have it handed to him on a silver platter.
Michelled Bachman wants to be CONFERENCE CHAIRMAN, to initiate (teach) orientate the newbies, which puts her in a leadership position and also shape conservatives coalitions in the Republican House. This gives Tea Party folks a consolidated group wth clout.
Boehner is exhausted.
Cantor is fresh, new, smart and can dispatch the press lions in a word.
Boehner inspires no one.
Cantor is working with Paul Ryan, and gets Paul Ryan.
Boehner stiff armed Ryan, and failed entirely to give Paul’s financial plan a hearing.
Boehner is steeped in establishment habits and is no leader for a movement.
Watch Cantor side with and lead with conservative strength with CLARITY.
We could use clarity and coherence. Boehner has neither.
Paul Ryan will be the chairman of the House Budget Committee. Issa will have Investigations.
A lot of people on this thread do not understand the fundamentals of the House operation, our GOP leadership team, and even 8th grade civics. Amazing.
