Madison In contests that drew national attention, Democrats lost control of both the state Assembly and Senate in Tuesday's voting, giving Republicans control of all of state government for the first time since 1998.
The stunning victory amid high unemployment and economic turmoil in the state represented the first time a political party had won both houses of the Legislature in a single day of voting since 1938, when Republicans swept out the waning Progressive Party.
The new GOP majorities will have the potential power to pass tax and spending cuts sought by Governor-elect Scott Walker as well as redraw the lines of political districts to make it easier to elect Republican congressional and legislative candidates. But they also face the challenge of balancing a $3 billion budget deficit projected for the next two years.

The Rats are shovel-ready for the dust bin of history.
5 Red Congressional seats (out of 8)
Yup. WI-7 won by Sean Duffy. WI-7 is the seat vacated by retiring David Obey, to give ya another measure of earthquake that just happened. Rudy Guiliani was in Wausau, Chippewa Falls & Medford on Sunday stumping for Duffy.

Congrats, WI, for taking back your state!

This is in addition to winning the legislature in MN. The state legislatures are the farm teams for federal offices. Last night we did quite well for ourselves in the longer term in the Midwest.
First order of business, repurpose U of WI Madison as a Vo-Ag college.
No the first order of business is showing ID when you vote, that should take care of 75% of the problem.
My now Alabama wife was born in Wisconsin. She is very proud of her old home state!!! However, sorry Wisconsin, Alabama has her heart now!!!!
You are one of the lucky ones as most Wisconsinites stay close to home. Some retire to other states because of high taxes and the weather.
The one good thing about last night with the GOP doing well at the State and Local level, is that this will allow the GOP to build their farm system for the future.
Absolutely. Walker has previously stated he WILL SIGN a CCW law.
And five years ago, all of the GOP lawmakers voted to override Doyle’s veto on CCW.
So this looks like a done deal to me.
Out of the 50 states, this will leave only Illinois that makes no legal provision for citizens to carry a concealed weapon.
Unfortunately, in practice, there are several more than just Illinois.
First step is Shall Issue, and then we go for Constitutional Carry.
Time to push for CCW again.
Time to push for CCW again.
