US Representative Barney Frank, the powerful House committee chairman and influential Democrat, easily won re-election today after holding off a challenge from Republican Sean Bielat.
After a scare, Frank surged to victory, winning 61 percent of the vote to Bielat's 36 percent, with 62 percent of precincts reporting, according to the Associated Press.

A "Castro District", as it were.
Suppose we could ship Massachusetts morons off to Castro's "Mini Me" in Venezuela?
The title should be: “A Gerrymandered district and lib-bot voters ensure Frank’s return yet again”.
Darn.
That’s a very queer Congressional district.
yeah, but lets see how happy these pigs are when they are not in the drivers seat anymore.
Dare! Dare! :)
I just don’t get Massachusetts. I can’t believe there are that many stupid people in that state!
A lot of 'em will threaten to go to one of their favorite socialist utopias if Palin (or another true blue conservative) wins in '12, but alas they never follow through.
I called this 10 days ago at: Frank 68% Bielat 32%.
4th Dist is VERY Liberal and also full of Barney “types.
Earl Sholley, a true conservative, was defeated by the same margin the past two elections when he ran against Frank.
Anyone who expected Bielat to win was inhaling the smoke.
Are there no unemployed people in MA, do they not understand how pivotal this asshole was in creating the financial mess we are in.
It's a sad statement that people are stupid enough to reelect someone with his record of failures over the last 4 years. Did his opponent even mention Frank's role in the financial crisis.
Indeed.
I have to borrow that to use in my travels around New England. Well done.
Now that's no attitude to have. I truly thought that Beilat had a chance here and he ran a very admirable campaign. Considering that Barney was never seriously challenged before in this hopelessly gerrymandered district, it bodes well for future elections. If we are going to turn Massachusetts red someday, we have to start somewhere.
The only solace I can take from this news is that with Pelosi out of the picture, Barney Frank can be the face of the Democrats for the next two years and over the next two years, as the Tea Party gets really going, he will be a great advertisement for our cause.
Why?
What is wrong with the voters in his district? What are they thinking? I assume they think, which appears to be a major stretch.
What can’t they comprehend about the mortgage mess. Do they really want more buggerie of their cost of living?
I really do need an explanation of what the he77 these fools are thinking!
This race, more than any other, makes me fear for our country.
He smoked some bone to celebrate.
What is the deal with your stupid state??? What was the reason people gave for supporting Frank?
Shame on Massachussetts!!! I cannot wait to leave this pit!!!
My prediction for 2012: Joe Republican 34% Barney 66%.
Write it down! (No smoke at my end.)
How about for 2014: Joe Republican 35% Barney 65%
Give my a break on the 4th Dist of Mass. Rep 35% Demo 65%
for the next 100 years. Sorry you’ll just have to live with the hard facts of political life in Mass in this Dist.
For much the same reasons I left there in 1998 and never looked back. They never cease to astound me with their choice of representation. Dam* you Barney, you’ll one day get your just reward in jail.
Then again, my state re-elected McPain.
So, we commiserate together, and still celebrate the undoubted wins tonight.
I’m with you, SamAdams76. I’m in Sean Bielat’s district. Very proud to have voted for him. He’s a class act, a very courageous young man who ran a great campaign. The race was starting to get close, but at the last minute, our mail boxes were carpet bombed with a bunch of different flyers from Barney Frank about how Sean Bielat was going to destroy Social Security.
We had a great slate of Republican candidates here (Sean Bielat, David Pottier, Shaunna O’Connell, Mary Z. Connaughton ... ), and I can’t say how proud I am of every one of them. It’s easy to go into battle when you’re looking at an easy win. How much harder to do it when you don’t have to and you know you’re facing probable slaughter if you do. These are ordinary people who understand that America is worth it.
In my state, we have Baghdad Jim McDermott. They could put his rotting corpse up for re-election against Jack Armstrong, the All-American Boy and he’d win in a landslide, because legions of entitlement addled leftist zombies rise from their smug, natural food fueled stupors just long enough to cast a vote for this corrupt gasbag.
In fact, would a mod delete this? I don’t want to give Washington State Dems any ideas about what they might do with him post-mortem.
