Rove's comments were a double-edged sword.

I guess you are probably right. I was just so angry with the man that I forgot about that.

Not only that O'Donnell’s win cost Rove stature and money.

If the margin is truly 18% then that is significant.

Indeed it is. If we lose Toomey in Pennsylvania (we're fortunate Toomey is even competitive in PA) part of the blame will be on the wacky O'Donnell ads spilling over into the state. Competence matters.

Better a real Commie in that seat than a back stabbing Rino like Castle.Even if she ends up losing in the end,She helped expose who the Establishment types are.

IMHO, At this point 50 Senate seats would be better than 51 or 52 seats. Make VP BiteMe break any ties and lets start gearing up for 2012

There's another thing going on here, too. If I heard correctly it seems that Christine won the Independent vote but NOT the *Republican* vote. If this is true then I go back to my first statements and blame Rove and the RINO elite. No question about it.

They should be able to hold their nose and vote "R" just like we do. They should NOT give the vote to a marxist. That is unforgivable. That is why we need to kill off the RINOs. They are not at all helpful to the conservative Constitutional cause.

Moot point. They reported that Castle would have lost too. That’s the reality.

I prefer to trade in reality and results in the real world, not possibilities and what-ifs.

Evidently not, everyone here was supporting the Republican Senate nominee, you keep going on about a fantasy regarding a guy that didn't make through the primary.

Competence matters.

Yes it does.

Competent Republican strategists don't trash one of their own after a primary.

Competent Republican candidates don't vote 75% liberal and then expect to win a Republican primary especially in this election cycle.

Competent Republicans don't fail to endorse one of their own after losing a primary.

Nonsense. The RINO was beaten in the primary. that’s the way it works.

Yes, that's the way it works. And, now, DE and the US have Coons as a Senator. That's the way it works. There's NOTHING good to be found in that. PERIOD.

Maine has a larger population, not twice as many, but maybe 1.5, and polls closed at the same time. Delaware is done, and Maine is at 13% counted. Maine has 596 precincts, 438 in DE.

I have trouble believing these results. Just, don’t, believe, these, results.

They reported that Castle would have lost too. That’s the reality.

That's certainly possible given how badly O'Donnell lost, but I'm extremely skeptical of making that claim based on exit polling.

The reason is that I strongly suspect that the presence of O'Donnell likely increased Democrat turnout above the turnout there would have been if Castle was the candidate; the race received much more publicity because of O'Donnell; also, Democrats would be much more likely to viscerally hate O'Donnell than Castle, and thus people would have been motivated to vote just to vote AGAINST her.

So it's likely that some number of Democrats being exit-polled in DE wouldn't have even shown up to vote if Castle had been the candidate.

Castle would have done ONE thing that would have made a MAJOR difference nation wide: he would have caucused with the GOP and, thus, probably made the difference in who controls the Senate..
Two words.

Apparently it's missed on many. I want conservatives to win, but I also realize they need to be in power to have any effect at all. RINOs suck, but they are useful in terms of getting conservatives in positions of power.

I just wish more would consider the words of Ronald Reagan about political compromise, and realize the wisdom behind those words. Eating our own is what keeps the Democrats in power.

Several other points, hitherto not emphasized.

1) Absentee ballots, especially those cast early, before the surge.

2) RINOs sitting out.

3) Voter fraud.

NO cheers, unfortunately.

Sure, we don’t have to deal with a RINO. If we don’t take the Senate, we can say in 1 year and 11 months - hey, don’t blame us.

You see, we got the house and the senate in 94, we overplayed our hand, and Clinton won. That’s the thing. Getting the house and the senate opens us up to blame. We’ve got the House pretty solid if the tv is telling the truth.

And Obama is President. The House will keep anything really bad from happening. The President will keep anything good from happening. So, gridlock, basically. That’s fine.

And we don’t have to deal with RINOs.

There is so very very much that Christine did that was good, besides taking out the RINO. On the house side, we did well. Biggest gains since who knows. And yes, by having Christine there, that provided a message for the Democrats. Attack Christine. It worked against Christine, but elsewhere, we got some good results.

Ronald Reagan: “A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. I do not believe I have proposed anything that is contrary to what has been considered Republican principle. It is at the same time the very basis of conservatism. It is time to reassert that principle and raise it to full view. And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way.”
