If youre a Republican looking for a cherry to put on top of your election sundae, here it is pulled straight from the website of Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now:
The ongoing political onslaught caused irreparable harm. This effort was a clear attempt to cast a shadow over the historic 2008 Presidential election, and set up a far right counter offense. Through those attacks we re-tooled and re-organized. Then again came the right-wing media blitz. This time of edited videos that misrepresented our mission, and consequently misled the public. The pressure and cost of defending ourselves in multiple investigations as a result of the falsified videos has eroded our organization. As a result we will be filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy by close of business today.
We have seen this coming for some time. Our chapters closed in the first quarter of the year. We have spent our remaining resources trying to dissolve the organization with integrity, while continuing to respond to the extremist attacks. Allegations and reports will continue to try to undermine all that ACORN has done, often searching for evidence from long before I became CEO.
Thank you to all our members, supporters, funders, friends and allies who helped ACORN carve out a deep and lasting place in history. Let us all learn from the past, and march boldly into the future. ACORN will live on in the hearts of the people it served, and as those of us who fight for justice know, THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED.
Yeah, they said it ACORN is history. Im sure ACORN will be back, in some mutated form or another, but its still a significant victory for critics of the organization and its controversial tactics.
Let George Soros buy them.
....they don’t give up, they just change their name.
lol....The only way it would be better is if all the employees had to file personal bankruptcies, too.
Is ACORN a single entity? Are they a corporation? Is the federal government still funding them?
The need to be filing for parole...
The problem is that it took two years to do this. We have to find a better way to close outfits like this down in a timely manner. Then follow through with prosecution and do it within six months.
Obambi is taking all their money to go to India.
They aren’t going anywhere.
I won’t be happy until some of them criminals are brought up on charges trying to defraud the government.
McCain and Richard Burr must be sad.
All their many bank accounts squirreled in several locations, some of which are off shore, have now been emptied by the Rathke boys and funneled to the next group of front orgs democrats will have the unions and feds funneling new cash to. Of course the Rathke scum have taken their skim from the top, perhaps even donating a few mill to Andy ‘I’m an international commie now’ Stern.
Hurray!
Pass me another beer.
They closed down ACORN and opened up under several different names instead.
I don’t know, but I would guess that they’re just doing it so they write off some of their old debts without bothering to pay them. And so they can cancel out any potential lawsuits looking for damages.
Don’t be naive.
“Acorn” may be gone, but they have already spawned a dozen more non-profits....recipients of Stimulus $$$, going on about their business of stealing elections.
That’s what I figured. So how do they file bankruptcy?
Come on we need to be smarter than this.....
