BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The Secretary of State William R. Galvin says voter turnout is expected to reach record highs. He's projecting a bigger turnout in districts with highly contested congressional races. So far, Barney Franks' district has one of highest turnouts ion the state.
In Newton and North Attleboro, the lines were forming before the polls opened and the flow has been steady all day. People we spoke to say they're coming out to vote on tax issues.
The questions on the ballot were important to them. Some wanted to vote against the incumbent others felt it was important to stop the tide of opposition. Many say with all the hype and advertising they've seen- they simply couldn't stay home.

Maybe his district is tired of being represented by the creepiest act in the congressional freak show. And being known as The Banking Queen's district...the architect of the housing collapse.

I know what you mean. I literally become ill when I see him on the tube or the internet with that horrendous gushing, lisping, Tom Brokaw l’s, rasping, obnoxious, arrogant manner of speaking. I don’t make fun of speech impediments, but in his case, an exception is warranted. Gosh, I hope he loses and just goes away.

obvious question is, how does this compare with turnout in the Brown special, where Brown won this CD?
To: GOPinCa
I voted at 7:02 a.m. In order to get there I arrived at twenty minutes before seven.
I do not like waiting in lines and was only fourth in line this morning so I was satisfied in that regard.

In a time like this where there is such an anti-incumbent fever, turnout favors the challenger. That’s us. The higher the turnout the better we’ll do. They’re in “oh no” mode. We’re in “oh hell yeah” mode.

If Brown won this District when the health care bill was on the line, why can’t Bielat win it now?

Gerrymandering is corrupt and should be outlawed. Districts should be drawn by computer to gather people closest to polling points irregardless of race, religion, gender, national orientation or sexual orientation. Yep, but until it's illegal we need to take full advantage.

Barney runs a very responsive office for his constituents, I’ll give him that much.

I agree. Hard to tell what it means. It could go either way.

If Brown won this District when the health care bill was on the line, why cant Bielat win it now? Brown won the district by less than 1% running against someone (Marcia Coakley) who ran quite possibly the worst campaign of all time. Also Barney is entrenched and thought well-of in the northern part of the district (Brookline, Newton) which are the population centers. Having said all of that, Bielat has a real shot if he can get out the vote in his area and split the vote in the south coastal cities.

I think you’re right, unfortunately. I’d really love to have Barney’s head in the trophy case, but if turnout is that high, I don’t think it’s going to happen.
