Opinion: America's Misplaced Anger
aolnews ^ | 11;2/2010 | Michaeel Cohen

(Nov. 1) -- The American people are mad as hell, and they aren't going to take it anymore. They're tired of billion-dollar bailouts that have bankrupted the country. They are tired of Democratic politicians who are raising their taxes. They are tired of a Congress that has basically done nothing over the past two years.

Come Tuesday, these angry voters are going to shake up Washington, by voting for a Republican Party committed to reversing the failed policies of the Democratic Party. Sounds like a pretty good list of complaints, right?

There's one problem. It's simply wrong.

In reality, bank bailouts have actually turned a healthy multibillion-dollar profit. The economy has expanded over the past five quarters. And since Democrats took control of both Congress and the White House in January 2009, 95 percent of Americans have seen their tax burdens go down. Yet according to a recent Bloomberg poll, Americans (by a 2-to-1 margin) believe the exact opposite.

Boy i tell you what, the pyschotherapy business is going to be booming the next few months.

I tried to volunteer at a suicide hotline to help the Dems on election night... but then I found out that it was a suicide Prevention hotline, so I'll just sit at home and what the returns instead. :-)

Congress has “done” plenty - most of it involving looting the Treasury for the benefit of its patrons or handing money out to “community activist” organizations.

Further proof that liberalism is a mental disorder. It is only curable in very rare cases.

In the article he uses, " ... comprehensive health care reform ...", so it's obvious he can't find his own plumbing with a strip map taped to his belt. This is the type of totally out of touch, brainwashed, perpetually adolescent, lamer, that passes for an educated individual in this country these days.

He is the poster boy for ending all Federal funding of education in this country and all Federal control of education. Then at least only a few parts of the country would deliberately turn their students into imbeciles through intense brainwashing programs laughingly referred to as "higher education".

Regards

Michael seems to believe, as most liberals like him believe, that Americans are stupid and misinformed because they refuse to accept Democrat propaganda at face value.

Just to address his first three points: the banks are running profits, sure - funded by billions of taxpayer dollars that are perversely allowing them to continue to lie about the value of their unsecured mortgage-backed assets, which are still a nightmare waiting to be unleashed upon the economy.

The economy "has expanded"? Uh, no - not really. GDP is up weakly, and only because of unsustainable government spending. The private sector is still shrinking and jobs are NOT being created at a level necessary to keep pace with population growth.

Finally - a "tax cut"? Please. Many Americans received not a "cut" but an advance on their refunds created by reduced tax withholding. And a significant number of those receiving a check would have owed no Federal income taxes anyway... but next year, when the rates revert to 2001 levels - they will owe taxes again, even though they are not the rich bastards that liberals love to hate (unless they got their money through inheritance or by marrying wealthy heiresses, that is).

Taxes have skyrocketed under Obama and the democrats. The “real” tax rate is not what is withheld or our current tax rate, it is based on government spending, including interest on the debt. That money will be paid back, one way or another, through inflating our dollars, raising rates, lots of nickel-and-dime stealth taxes, Fed actions, effective negative returns on our bank savings, reduced access to capital in favor of the govt access, etc., etc., etc. Their spending spree represents an enormous tax increase on this and future generations.

95 percent of Americans have seen their tax burdens go down.

Because they're out of work or have taken substantial pay cuts.

This guy is so smart! So let’s follow his logic.

1. We need more stimulus to create even more jobs after all the Democrats created 3million jobs. It does not matter if their were no “shovel jobs” as the president admitted. Just send the money to the unemployed, union pension funds and state government workers. Paul Krugman, the Nobel laureate agrees and he is so smart. And all those jobs lost, well we don’t count them, that’s the Republicans fault.
2. Americans think that there taxes went up under Democrats but they are wrong, they went down according to genius. So let’s show them what a real tax increase will feel like in 2011.
3. The congress has been productive. Oh yes they have by nationalizing the car industry, student loans, banks, mortgages. The people don’t understand this. So to make them really understand we can take over the energy sector and fully control the health care industry.
4. Hooray, we now will cover 30 million more people for health care. The expansion is mostly from Medicaid-that excellent system that doctors and patients just love.
5. The Republicans don’t have any serous ideas on health care or anything else, They are not helping the president and that is their job. So we need to monitor and shut down any unproductive speech. We could also have a real government take over of the media and then we could educate the people and talk about ways to really make progress.

“In short, the policy agenda — whether one opposes it or not — has been tailored to relieving the economic burden on the American people.”

Oh so true. We will no longer have an economy; that is a free market economy with zero’s policy agenda. And without that free-market economic burden, we can look forward to the egalitarian bliss of socialism.

Failure to mention the 750 billion dollar bailout shows the author’s bias. This went to union thugs, Acorn, and other useless progressive causes and didn’t exactly bring the unemployment down to 8 percent levels as promised by the 0bama “economic team.”

Someone tell this ass-hat that while the U.S. economy was wallowing in 10+ percent unemployment the idiot and chief decided to focus on ramming health care down the nations throat.
