Keith Olbermann Dropping "Worst Person in the World" Segment... [Jim Thompson denied 2nd award]

Keith Olbermann announced Monday night that he's dropping the "Worst Person in the World" bit -- probably the most popular segment of Countdown with Keith Olbermann -- from the nightly MSNBC broadcast.

"As of right now, I am unilaterally suspending that segment with an eye towards discontinuing it," he said. "We don't know how that works long-term. We might bring it back. We might bring back something similar to it. We might kill it outright."

Olbermann acknowledged that the change was a direct response to Jon Stewart's remarks at the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" that MSNBC and Fox News were essentially two sides of the same coin, saying that he agrees with Stewart that "the tone needs to change.

"Today, given the serious stuff we have to start covering tomorrow, we think it's the right time to do it short-term and then we'll see what happens," Olbermann said, referencing the Nov. 2 elections.

"The anger in this news hour was not an original part of it, nor was it an artifice that we added to it," he declared. "It was a response to a threat to this democracy posed by [former President George W.] Bush."

Well, someone added to it....linguistically there is no indication of “made by male person,” if that’s what you’re saying.

I suspect that someone else is subtracting from it...that he’s being sued?

I recall Geraldo Rivera getting fired from ABC because of a lawsuit. His last segment on 20/20 made it sound like it was his choice to leave the network.

Other possibility: he was about to win his own award?

So what you are saying is Jim Thompson is really Emmanuel Goldstein?

Olbermann has to be the Al Gore of the media. In my honest opinion, I think Olby would do a lot better if all he did was worst people segments. A full hour of it, every day.

I would watch that. Well... I would tape it and show it to my dog every time he was constitpated.

Jon Stewart’s “Rally To Restore Sanity”......

Sanity according to what? The true anger and dissatisfaction the majority in this country are feeling, because Marxism/Socialism is being crammed down our throats against our will?

Never forget Stewart, you cocky, arrogant, elitist, pig’s ass. This country was born and founded for less than we are being forced to endure now! And you are a big part of the ruling class’s propaganda team.

Take full notice of your slipping ratings after this election is over. We all hope you go under before the year is out as you should.

“And the inventor of the Thompson submachine gun”

"It was a response to a threat to this democracy posed by [former President George W.] Bush."

Yeah, because of things like the Patriot Act, snooping on people on the internet...y'know, the things the Obama administration have discontinued doing. /s
