Keith Olbermann announced Monday night that he's dropping the "Worst Person in the World" bit -- probably the most popular segment of Countdown with Keith Olbermann -- from the nightly MSNBC broadcast.
"As of right now, I am unilaterally suspending that segment with an eye towards discontinuing it," he said. "We don't know how that works long-term. We might bring it back. We might bring back something similar to it. We might kill it outright."
Olbermann acknowledged that the change was a direct response to Jon Stewart's remarks at the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" that MSNBC and Fox News were essentially two sides of the same coin, saying that he agrees with Stewart that "the tone needs to change.
"Today, given the serious stuff we have to start covering tomorrow, we think it's the right time to do it short-term and then we'll see what happens," Olbermann said, referencing the Nov. 2 elections.
"The anger in this news hour was not an original part of it, nor was it an artifice that we added to it," he declared. "It was a response to a threat to this democracy posed by [former President George W.] Bush."
Yep. Return to civility. Doesn’t like being on the receiving end.
You rock. I'm not just saying that...
Awwww. I’m upset that I never got a chance to earn this Prestigous Honor! I would consider it a medal of honor to be called Worst Person in the World by Olberman.....
Isn't this the "Worst, Worster, Worstest" garbage? What would the left say if a conservative came up with the same routine? They'd claim it as evidence of poor grammar.
And they vote...
Jim Thompson was married to Mrs Thompson
and they begat little Tommy Thompson.
ROFLMAO!!
Yeah, but will you show us your long-form birth certificate?
;p
(*ducks for cover*)
And the inventor of the Thompson submachine gun.
“Oberman considers dropping the most popular segment of his show, what do think his audience will say?”
(crickets chirping)
“Won’t that alter the flow and nuance of his show?”
(dog barks in distance, wind blows forlornly)
“What do you think the critics will say?”
(door slams blocks away, police car siren wails many many blocks away)
“No,... no one cares, Keith.”
You may have solved the riddle of why Keith Overbite hates Jim Thompson and everything he stands for.
Argh!!!!
You beat me!!!
I had thought of that and didn’t post it, thinking I could use it later.
LOL
I enjoy FR inside jokes.
Especially when I ‘get’ them.
I ‘get’ this one.
Each day Olberwoman exhibits every single lack of virtue that we right wingnuts are accused of but do NOT exhibit.
Someone now needs to update Freeper lore threads with this info.
But I am watching the Red Eye Election Special. Ann Coulter, my favorite Democrat Pat Caddell and the always confused Juan Williams making his first, and hopefully his last, Red Eye appearance.
