This does not surprise me in the least. The logical progression is: Liberal => Secular Leftist => Atheist Marxist => Islamic Marxist. Atheisism just creates a void that Islam is waiting to fill.
If your goal in life is to exert control over the lives of others, Islam gets you there a lot faster than Marxism.

Modern western civilization has become a bleak spectacle of emptiness bereft of meaning and comfort for the individual, especially in Europe. Conversions such as this do not surprise me. In a battle between Something and Nothing, Something will win even if its as insane as radical Islam.

You can’t fix stupid. Of course the Left constantly criticizes Christians for being moralistic and puritanical, but so long as its Islam, then religious and moral sentiments are noble.

This country was founded on the “self-evident truths” that all people are endowed by their Creator with rights that can’t be given by any person or government but can only be either rightly protected or wrongly violated. Some of those rights are the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
As you’ve pointed out, both repressive politics and repressive religion are enemies of life (see abortion, eugenics, and death camps on the part of communism, and terrorism and the execution of “infidels” on the part of Islam). They are the enemies of liberty (see communism’s “nothing you do makes any difference” outcome, and Islam’s forbiddance of everything joyful, as well as the enslavement of women and “infidels”). They are enemies of the pursuit of happiness (an extension of both previous items).
As Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal, to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
Neither repressive politics nor repressive religion works, because neither recognizes the fallenness of man or fixes what is broken in man. They both just prescribe band-aids for symptoms.
Evidently sodomizing little boys and abusing women, stoning, chopping off hands or heads is okay with him. Talk about stupid. Well, he’ll feel right at home with the rest of the barbarians in the Middle East.
This doofus is a music teacher? Muslims hate music; they do not permit it in their religious services and strict Muslim societies actually don’t permit it at all.
