This could go down as the strangest simile of the election season . . .
Introducing this evening's Hardball, Chris Matthews likened the electoral plight of Democrats to the Battle of the Alamo, "as seen from inside the mission." In other words, Matthews casts the Dems as Jim Bowie's Americans, fighting a hopeless battle against the Mexicans, in which role Chris casts . . . the Republicans!

The men at the Alamo were fighting for freedom from an oppressive government. Chrissie has got to go find another analogy. Democrats are anything but freedom and a non oppressive government.
