Randy Moss' bizarre press conference Sunday night wound up being his farewell to Minnesota.
NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reports that the Vikings waived Moss on Monday. At his Monday press conference, Vikings coach Brad Childress mentioned that he allowed Moss to stay back in Boston for a few days before re-joining the team. Looks like he can stay there.
We have no reason to believe the story is not true, but PFT can report via a league source that Moss is not yet aware that he's been released.

popcorn please!
I’m actually surprised. NE blanketed him like a rug, so he only caught one pass, but he pulled extra coverage off the other receivers. However, he had an easy touchdown reception lined up, so the Pat’s defender had to take him out, for a long pass interference gain that led to a score. So, he was almost as much a contributor as if he’d gotten a TD.
As to the press conference... well, maybe the Childress-Favre soap opera is enough for one team.
DARN MY SLOW WIRELESS (Not mine, I am just stuck with it at this hotel)!!
You beat me by a few minutes...
Oh no! Another psychological train-wreck project for Mike Brown to sign to the Bengals squad.
Great trade there by the Vikings.
Not breaking news, and especially not the day before the election, but as a 40-year Viking fan I can say I’m more than ready to see Colonel Klink gone.
Childress is the most overrated coach in the NFL and naturally his skill level is in inverse proportion to his ego. And Moss was right yesterday. The game plan completely ignored him.
If I were Zygi Wilf I’d tell Klink to clean out his desk, but since there’s only coloring books inside it, that probably wouldn’t take too long.
If the Patriots claim him, do they have to return the draft choice?
Odd that he got cut, he was being double teamed on every down and had a safety lining up 20 yards deep to pick him up. Troy Aikman says he never saw anything like it before. He had to opening things up for the other receivers. I suspect that Belichek wanted to make darn sure that he wasn’t beaten by Moss.
Did no one notice the conversation between Moss and Kraft that ended with Moss slapping Kraft’s ass?
They got him for a third round draft choice.
If Farve gets any more beat up he will be playing from a gurney.
Maybe he can find a home with the Cowboys.
He was just a tad outcoached yesterday.
I am a Pats fan, and I have to say I really did enjoy watching him play the last few years...he could make some spectacular catches.
But I was glad they let him go. I don’t want to use the word “cancer”, but he was a major distraction. Every week, there was another press conference...another article...another question or issue.
As strange as it sounds, I would rather have a less capable team that plays as a team, rather than a team of everyone + one.
As a fan, I wished him all the best when he left. Moss isn’t a dummy (You want a dummy? Brett Favre is a dummy...IMO) and he did help the team a great deal in practice...he apparently spent a lot of time with the defensive backs teaching them (apart from burning them) and giving them advice.
His problem is, that he just could not be a cog. He had to be THE cog. Sad.
Mike Brown is starting to look like the NFL version of the crazy cat lady who rescues a hundred cats from the pound.
If he had a 5-2 record I might thing that his brilliant plans were working.
Klink was only outcoached from the opening kickoff to the final gun. Other than that he was great.
Say what you want about Moss, but the Vikings were averaging 16 points a game before Moss arrived and 21.5 points a game after.
I heard Randy Moss texted Childress a picture of Tom Brady's latest haircut.
Oh, I don't know about that. Im thinking Josh McDaniels could give him a run for his money in that department.
Breaking News? Maybe on Yahoo Sports or some other board.
I didn’t put this thread in Breaking News. It is in Extended News.
