In this context, we can classify yesterdays incident of the Syriac Catholic Church of the Arch-Baghdad as the first test for the released Synod statement, to check the reactions of the patriarchs, bishops and church officials on the challenges facing Christians in the Middle East, and was not an encouraging experience.
Many fear the fate of Christians in the East, as it turns to the terrorists for their attributes with the passage of time. After being marginalized politically (even in Lebanon, where Christians have been absent from political influence in the country), they have become minority, who is not heard nor received the necessary attention and then migrants As a result of the political and economic developments.
those who remained are oppressed, turned into targets, to end up yesterday to being hostages, despite of the presence of the (Christian) U.S. troops in Iraq.
The Vatican, condemned the actions of the militants, and demanded that the crisis would be solved quickly and peacefully noting that the situation of Christians in the East and practically in Iraq was the focus of the Synod held in the Vatican.
What happened in Iraq, can happen in Egypt or the occupied territories, or any country where Christians are a minority, seen as accessories to decorate the image of the host country to say that it has the values of openness in the (Arab, Muslims, Middle Eastern) societies.
