Democrats urge reelection of dead Long Beach senator
October 29, 2010 | 3:18 pm
A week after the death of state Sen. Jenny Oropeza (D-Long Beach), Democrats have sent mailers to residents urging them to vote to reelect her. That would trigger a special election and give the party a chance to put up a new candidate.
The mailers featuring Secretary of State Debra Bowen and Democratic Party general counsel Martha Escutia do not say explicitly that Oropeza has died or that a vote for her will allow another Democrat to be considered.
"Senator Jenny Oropezas illness has been a tragedy," Escutia wrote in one. "Her strength through her struggle inspired us all."

My old home town.... its sad to see someone die. I’d never wish it on any one but the Democrats stooping to get people to vote for the dead is really low.
Very sad for her loved ones; what are the chances they received those mailers? Disgusting.
This makes sense. I’m sure the dead vote will be very sympathetic and well organized.
Sorry, Jenny, not voting for ya, even though your ideas from the beyond might be better than the soda tax you once proposed...
...to drag her rotting corpse into an election campaign.
The Republicans must not bail out California. They will collapse in the next two years and be a good example to the rest of the USA.
Agreed. And I say that as someone whose parents live out there. Mom wants to move, Dad keeps coming up with BS excuses not to.
California refugees should be welcome in Constitution friendly states.
Let the dead vote for their dead.
The ultimate in Democrat identity politics...
The dead voting for the dead.
LOL!
This is almost on par with the Paul Wellstone memorial service.
If dead people are largest Dem voting block, the dead should be allowed to serve in office too.
RATS THE PARTY OF DEATH! DEAD VOTERS VOTING FOR DEAD CANDIDATES!
Anytime you vote for a Democrat you are voting for the dead.
The problem is, they are like locusts, destroying one place, then taking their flakey liberalism with them to destroy another state.
