Didn’t realize you wrote this. So HOW and WHY did the topic of race come up? This is a racist hit piece, IMO.

If they wonder why they might accept Christianity, they may want to first consider the Gospel.

Christianity isn’t simply a faith that treats others nicely.

It’s how God provides for man to have fellowship with God.

No other “comparative religion” provides that access.

She has a lot experience with Muslims.

You start a thread against whites and then hide. Your problem isn't against Christianity - it's against whites.

What can white Christians do, to bring an end to this anger and bitterness, that many American Indians seem to harbor?

Christians can't do anything for someone else's racism, anger and bitterness - that's something one brings on themselves. And why haven't you addressed black Christians?

But what can a FReeper do? Tell you to get lost and take your hate with you.

Niuhuru, that is not exactly true. They fought one another, just as the european tribes fought one another before they formed countries, then countries fought countries. Man is one of the greatest hunter in the world.
He is the only animal to take his lunch when he goes hunting. All of the clap-trap about natives crying about being mistreated is just that clap-trap. There are whiners in every walk of life.

He feels that American Indians were treated much worse...

As a Christian I share his pain. I have a great amount of resentment and unbridled anger towards Italians because of the way the Romans treated my brothers and sisters ~2000 years ago.

I’m 1/8 native american, and I was treated with great hostility by Navajos. Not certain re: rationale, but Blackfoot and Navajos seem very nasty.

That's the half-breed thing rearing it's head... Regarding Christianity, I have pretty good relations with Cheyenne, Blackfoot, Salish-Kootenai, and Gros Ventre peoples, and at least here, there are no troubles... Though my adherence to mainstream Christianity is somewhat eclectic, to be fair.

As an agnostic, I completely agree that Christianity has a positive influence in society while Islam is contrary to a free and open society.

They kept asking him why they should accept Christianity - a religion that white Europeans were themselves rejecting. Does Christianity have a future in Europe, and in the West?

It’s called Europe is fading out. The real question is, “Does Europe have a future?” Unless it changes, it won’t have much of a future at all. It will either be transformed into an Islamic society, or will simply become so depopulated that we could see a re-run of the Mideval Time Period, with Europe run by feudalistic societies following the collapse of the larger central governments. Both are possibilities, but God have mercy on whomever has to endure either of those possible futures.

Many, if not most tribes of American aborigines practiced cannibalism at one time or another. Do they want to go back to that too?

Christianity has a future for every human being born today. It’s up to man to either accept or deny what God has provided him.

I have news for the pagan who considers Christianity worse than Islam or any other religious system. Some of the most heinous acts ever committed have been committed by Christian believers acting on their own, out of fellowship with God. That doesn’t change what He has provided and how we can continue through faith in Him, without lapsing into things other than what He has provided. That is only available it what is provided by God through Christ.

I believe that graphic of a shaman is from a prehistoric European cave painting.

this article is a hit piece indeed. Unnamed sources and unattributed quotes, which means the writer made it all up.

People in general know very little about the way of life of native americans before the arrival of Europeans and it was in general quite rigorous and also violent.

It was an extremely hard life. Starvation was always at one’s elbow. torture and slaughter of enemy women and children were the norm. Some children were taken captive after their parents were killed. Look up Crow Creek Massacre on Wikipedia. This along with lice, fleas, skin infections, etc.

The romantic view of native people is untenable. there were many wonderful things about the various cultures but a clash between Europeans and the native people was inevitable. A tragedy. but liberals are incapable of nuanced thought.

I know some that refuse to carry or handle a twenty dollar bill because President Andrew Jackson is on it. (Of course they accept this denomination in their casino's...) Their schools teach a very different history than what I learned in school. You may want to look at the Interior departments budget as they give the indians billions each year, additionally the navy provides them their free health care.

Did this American Indian acknowlege the bloodthirsty nature of his own ancestors as a contributing factor to their eventual mistreatment at the hands of the US government?

Silly whitey. Everyone knows that all injuns lived in perfect peace and harmony with one another until the evil whiteys, lead by none other than George W. Bush himself (being an evil whitey, he can travel back in time).

"He also noted that many Indians consider white Christians to be worse than Muslims."

That's only because they never had to play - Muslims and Indians!
