Greetings,
Please join Senator Jim Webb and Congressman Gerry Connolly for a pre-canvassing rally at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Prince William County Democratic Headquarters in Woodbridge. After the brief rally with Senator Webb and Congressman Connolly, volunteers will fan out to do some critical, last minute door-knocking and canvassing in the Woodbridge area. The race in the 11th Congressional District is going to be extremely close, and your help can make a difference!
In its editorial endorsement of October 21, 2010, the Washington Post said it best when it declared: Mr. Connolly has distinguished himself in his first term in office by being elected president of the House Democrats freshman class. His command of local issues in Northern Virginia is impressive, as is his forward-looking advocacy for mass transit options to ease traffic. And Mr. Connolly has established himself as a fiscal moderate, for instance by opposing higher taxes on the wealthy to finance health-care reform. He deserves re-election.
Gerry needs your help now! Please join us this Saturday.

I'm suspicious here. This area has a very large Salvadoran community. The other Hispanics already left for Maryland (they don't have to since they are "on parole" as refugees).
Canoli and Webb's handlers imagine a large crowd can be drawn, but not one made up of voters.
NOTE: El Salvador keeps a mission in Woodbridge ~ so when I say they've got Salvadorans THEY HAVE GOT SALVADORANS!
Jim Webb should thank his lucky stars that he was in the 2008 election cycle, had the WaPo completely at his back (especially in the Maccaca incident) and that he can hide out for a couple of years before facing Virginia voters. His time will come.
I am struggling to finish Webb’s book about Scotch Irish legacy in America. It was highly recommended on this site so I bought it. I am determined to finish it before I pick up something I will enjoy more. It is interesting but the writing is labored and his Democrat loyalty comes through. I think it could have been much shorter with the same information.
For a seemingly honorable man, I don’t get why he is STILL a democrat or why he is not a Tea Party type. So thanks for the recommendation. If you want to read it, check it out of the library.
Born Fighting was a tough read for me too. It is very meandering and his attempts to intercut his personal family history with the story of the Scots-Irish is awkward to say the least. It has some interesting history—I really like the description of the Ulster Scots and the Book of Common Prayer.
Overall, whoever edited the book failed in his job to help Webb bring out his story. It is worth reading, but it is a struggle.
When is this POS up for his seat? He makes my skin crawl along with Dork Warner.
GREAT. Send in the clown Moran. That’ll really help.
Jim Webb was fired by every employer he ever had at their earliest opportunity. The voters of Virginia get a chance to keep that trend in 2012.
If you like that subject matter, get Albion’s Seed and read it instead. I didn’t read Webb’s book, but from what I have heard, he borrows heavily from better books, and does not give attribution.
Either
1) He's not paying attention
2) He's not an honorable man.
