Charlie Crist asked Clinton camp to suggest Meek drop out, source says
Washington Post ^ | 10/29/10 | Greg Sargent

Charlie Crist personally called a top adviser to Bill Clinton and asked if the former president would discuss with Kendrick Meek the possibility of dropping out of the Florida Senate race, according to a source close to Clinton.

The revelation adds a bit more detail to a story breaking tonight that's roiling the Florida race. Politico's Ben Smith reported this evening that Clinton tried to persuade Meek to drop out of the race and almost succeeded. Meek has adamantly denied that he ever considered dropping out.

According to a source close to Clinton, the former president's conversations with Meek were directly initiated by Crist. He called top Clinton lawyer Doug Band and asked him if Clinton would make the appeal directly to Meek, the source tells me.

POS politician. This should disqualify him from holding office ever. He loses the primary of the party he is nominally in, runs against that parties nominee, and then asks the candidate of the other party to drop out. A man with no principles.

Unfortunately, Clinton no longer had the power to grant favors or carry out threats.

I guess Meek wanted a payout Clinton could not bestow.

I’ll bet that Meek refused to get coffee for Clinton...

Klinton didn’t just ask Meek to ride in the back of the bus.
He wanted to throw Meek off the bus!

Nah, I’m getting the feeling this is a private war between Obama and Clinton.

Obama refuses Caprio, Clinton backs Caprio.
Obama refuses Meek, Clinton backs Meek.
and theres of that around the country, follow the pattern here.

This was a Crist/Obama hitjob. I would not be surprised that Clinton was told by the WH to ask Meeks to get out and Clinton actually told Meeks to stay put.

This is all about Hillary folks. The war is still raging.

Looks like the WaPo is throwing Clintoon under the bus for this, along with Crist. Who is the Obozo supporting (if anyone) in this circle****? Crist? Whatever, it’s all good for Rubio.

Criat was asked point blank if he spoke with Doug Band by Greta Van Susteren and he said,”NO!” This guy can lie straight faced without blinking. I hope this story snowballs and it outs Crist as the liar that he is and that he cooked up this scheme to save his own a$$ to keep a job.

Crist is firmly in Obozo’s pocket, remember that cozy trip by Crist to Martha’s vineyard about 6 weeks ago, thats where Obama offered the seat to Crist and he would get Meeks out.

Clinton is actually the one stopping Meeks getting out here, we should be thanking him. Obama wants Meeks out not Clinton.

Right. Then Obama ordered MSNBC to promote it and they did for a while.

Crist is was creepy on Greta tonight...he kept raising his eyebrows weird and talking in this odd, soft, seemingly fake voice. Straaaange.

Crist is a whackjob, him and Obama go well together.

Who stood to gain from trying to get Meeks out, not Meeks, not Clinton, only Crist and Obama, follow that and you’ll find the answer.

Obama can’t be seen to muscle out a fellow AA, so he cooked up some other way and who else could he blame for it, the same guy he painted as a racist in 2008, Bill Clinton.

Crist a first class POS, how any self respecting person in Florida could vote for that now is beyond me

And did anyone else notice that Greta asked him 3 times who he spoke with, and he pretended he didn’t hear her. He kept saying, I’m sorry?” He was lying through his teeth and I hope Rubio cleans his clock good. Heck, I’d vote for Meeks before I’d vote for Crist.

Poor Charlie.
He has been planning his Senate seat for a long time and it's turning out to be all for nothing.
Well maybe nothing is the wrong word.
Charlie TUNA has been exposed as a liar and a cheat. Klintoon was already known. This is too good.

This is most entertaining! It seems that Bill Clinton has decided that Crist should fry for this - boost Meeks by showing Crist to be the duplicitous scumbag that he's always been. No way would WaPo be getting this kind of "source close to Clinton" in this way unless Bill Clinton had decided that Crist is history. Clinton can boost Tuesday's votes for Meeks as Crist plummets from this - Rubio was going to win anyway but now Clinton gets to play hero for Meeks and his AA followers.

"According to a source close to Clinton, the former president's conversations with Meek were directly initiated by Crist. He called top Clinton lawyer Doug Band and asked him if Clinton would make the appeal directly to Meek, the source tells me."

I totally agree, None of Clinton’s camp ever broke rank and talked without permission before.

I think it’s WaPo trying to save the story. Clinton asks Meek to drop out. Meek says it didn’t happen. Now WaPo says Crist asked Clinton to ask Meek to drop out. There are probably several versions which I missed.

“Heck, I’d vote for Meeks before I’d vote for Crist.”

I said that at the beginning of the three way race. I cannot wait for that lizard to get the drubbing he deserves. When he loses, he will be an after thought for any future political activity here.

He tried to hit all the bases when he married that New England RINO supporter last year. Wonder how long that will last as he does not need the marriage cover any longer and she knows she is now attached to a LOSER.
