Is Operation Alaska Chaos working? Update: 56 Senate write-in applications so far (chaos for Lisa!)

Apparently so, via Kyle Hopkins at the Anchorage Daily News:

I'm sitting at the Division of Elections office here in Midtown, where more than a dozen people have filed this afternoon to run as write-in candidates for U.S. Senate.

KFQD 750 AM radio host Dan Fagan, a backer of Republican nominee Joe Miller, has been urging voters to sign up in an act of "civil disobedience" -- defying what he calls the courts' illegal decision to allow a list of write-in candidates at polling places.

The ruling is expected to aid Sen. Lisa Murkowski's write-in bid. The idea of the mass registration is to create a long list of potential write-in choices and make it harder for voters to find Murkowski's name.

The deadline for registering as a write-in candidate is the close of business today.

"I'm signing up to become a senator," a man in a hoodie said into his cell phone. An Anchorage woman who said she was upset with the court ruling wheeled in her oxygen tank, asking if she could sign up to run for both federal and state office.

More soon.

UPDATE: Make that about two dozen people.

I'm not sure about the Dan Fagan connection. I thought this was Dan Riehl's idea. But as Reagan once said, there's no limit to what can be accomplished if you don't care who gets the credit. If there are any more readers in Alaska, get down to the Division of Elections and join the party.

Update: Hopkins has updated his article to include the following information:

The Anchorage office received 56 Senate write-in applications -- in person or by fax -- in just 45 minutes, said election clerk Raymond McAndrews at 5 p.m.

Question for our Alaska readers: Are there Division of Elections offices other than the one in Anchorage? If so, how many more write-in applications have been received on top of the 56 in Anchorage?

I'm pretty sure someone up here will post it. Lisa is getting her flying monkey's all lined up ready to go on the attack, she seems to have more signs around Wasilla than Joe Miller but his radio and TV ads are way much better, none of the whining blaming someone else attitude that you get from the Lisa ads. What a way to blow a couple million dollars, everybody says she has no chance at all of even getting more than 15% of the votes. Write in polls whatever they say just cannot predict the people, or the shenanigans.

Who said we can’t play ALINSKY 101? This is awesome, and about time, and no more underhanded than MOOCowsky using dirty tricks.Saul, you magnificent bastard, we read your book.

If you must write in Leena Moocowski be sure to do it for governor.

Voters are FED UP & FIRED UP.

Muskowski should have gone quietly into the night with a bit of dignity.

Now, she has no way to get any dignity back after all her actions, IMO.

But, I’ve been gettin’ a little worried. The Miller campaign has made a big strategic blunder, and he’s been getting hammered for it. I hope he can get it back on track by the weekend. I do know that Gov. Parnell has lost my vote with his administration’s overt decision to support Lisa with this write in list crap. I can’t believe the State actually went to court to argue they should be allowed to break the law by providing her name!!! It’s may be closer than I first predicted, but I think he still has at least a 5% lead.

This whole race has made me sick. I’ve donated and I’m still praying.
Thank you for all the information.
I have faith that Joe Miller will win.

This should be fun. In doing some quick research, it seems that no matter what your lawfulname is, you get to designate what you want put on “the ballot” (in this case the write in list).

If the above is true, then everyone should have registered as Lisa Murkowski

Good to hear.

Have you seen any news on the Palin-Miller event tonight.

We need the prayers! All this reeks of banana republic electioneering! I’ll get really pissed if the State/Murkowski/Native Corps try to disqualify all those that filed today as write-ins or otherwise keep them from appearing on their illegal list. If that happens if might be pitchforks and flaming torches time.

Oh yeah. I’ll go nuclear. Im already getting physically sick and I mean that seriously. Joe Miller already won the primary race. I’m mad as heck that the state has cleared the way for her, and I’m not posting the language that I want to post.
