Is Operation Alaska Chaos working? Update: 56 Senate write-in applications so far (chaos for Lisa!)

Apparently so, via Kyle Hopkins at the Anchorage Daily News:

I'm sitting at the Division of Elections office here in Midtown, where more than a dozen people have filed this afternoon to run as write-in candidates for U.S. Senate.

KFQD 750 AM radio host Dan Fagan, a backer of Republican nominee Joe Miller, has been urging voters to sign up in an act of "civil disobedience" -- defying what he calls the courts' illegal decision to allow a list of write-in candidates at polling places.

The ruling is expected to aid Sen. Lisa Murkowski's write-in bid. The idea of the mass registration is to create a long list of potential write-in choices and make it harder for voters to find Murkowski's name.

The deadline for registering as a write-in candidate is the close of business today.

"I'm signing up to become a senator," a man in a hoodie said into his cell phone. An Anchorage woman who said she was upset with the court ruling wheeled in her oxygen tank, asking if she could sign up to run for both federal and state office.

More soon.

UPDATE: Make that about two dozen people.

I'm not sure about the Dan Fagan connection. I thought this was Dan Riehl's idea. But as Reagan once said, there's no limit to what can be accomplished if you don't care who gets the credit. If there are any more readers in Alaska, get down to the Division of Elections and join the party.

Update: Hopkins has updated his article to include the following information:

The Anchorage office received 56 Senate write-in applications -- in person or by fax -- in just 45 minutes, said election clerk Raymond McAndrews at 5 p.m.

Question for our Alaska readers: Are there Division of Elections offices other than the one in Anchorage? If so, how many more write-in applications have been received on top of the 56 in Anchorage?

So will the list of write-ins be in alphabetical order? Or will Murkowski be first and all the others behind her in the order that they were added?

Too bad there’s not one more day. That said, let’s hope the Miller people had someone ready to file.

Brilliant move! Bravo! It appears that the AK Supreme Court is acting as liberal and screwed up with their write-in ruling as the FL Supreme Court was in their rulings in 2000. The people are not going to just ‘bend over’ any longer. You hear that, Lisa?

Who said we can’t play ALINSKY 101? This is awesome, and about time, and no more underhanded than MOOCowsky using dirty tricks.

I wonder how they will handle another Lisa Murkowski as a senate candidate.

It seems the Rats and RINOs have been educating the public on dirty tricks by using them for too long now.

So ordinary Alaskans have adapted Princess Lisa's latest dirty trick to backfire by registering as write in candidates and they will also have the right to hand out literature at the polls.

Conservatives should get as many as possible with names very similar to Moo cow sky so misspellings won't help her.

Sweet.

The word is that the new write in list will be in the hundreds if not over a thousand. I know of at least one Lisa who filed. Many folks faxed their forms into the Juneau office, plus people could file in Soldotna, Wasilla, and Fairbanks in person.
