Difference is, Mr. Obama sympathizes and listens to the Taliban.

Liberal meltdown: TEA party operates like al-qaeda, cells pop up, go away. Look here, there it's gone, wait no, stop!

The Democrats so ignored the people that a bunch got together through the tea party and these regular family people became fiscal conservative activists IMO.

Some may have varying degrees of believe regarding the social safety nets of society, but all want fiscal sanity.

The other bad news for Democrats IMO is the so screwed the pooch on this one that these people will be politically active their whole life in every future election and may get their kids excited about it as well.

The ONLY thing holding Democrats together is the base of voters they collected through vast government employment and hand outs.
Had Democrats not given the treasury away every election, none of them could have ever made city dog catcher much less getting a control of House, Senate or Presidency IMO.

With it, the middleman is eliminated -- in this case an actual political party, Republican or Democratic, which was once called the organization because it actually organized.

Imagine that - citizens empowered to bypass the corrupt, the slovenly, the usurping. Citizens bringing real change, not the shysteristic change pushed by Obama.

I can see why Cohen hates it, he can't go to posh gatherings with the Tea Party folks like he does with the Beltway crowd. Tea Partiers don't need suck-up journalists around to promote their agenda, they can do it themselves. Cohen might have to start buying his own top-shelf booze and wagyu beef if this trend keeps up, and that is the real travesty to him.

. For Barack Obama, the Tea Party is the quintessential asymmetrical enemy, much like the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Maybe we'll get special rights now... entitlements, speaking engagements at colleges and positions in the White House.

I’ll have to give Cohen a bit of a kudo -

he didn’t play the race card until 2/3rds of the way through the article.

The Tea Party has no leader. It has no address, no phone and no Washington headquarters.

I suggest Mr. Cohen read this book.

The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations

There were at least 3 Op-Eds in the WaPo today bashing the tea party.

Comparing us to the Taliban is over the top like when you play the race card, you are just building up an immunity the public won’t even pay attention any longer. And if you think 0bamadinejad would sit down with us you’ve been smoking too much of your own propaganda.

This is a movement based on something the left cannot understand - principles.
Their only uniting “principle” is power over others.

We just have to identify those who are in opposition to our principles, and defeat them. No need for a “leader”.

As a result, the vexed Obama has been swinging wildly, punching at ghosts.

the blind pig finds an acorn here. He's right. "Tea Party" is a state of mind, a commonality of ideas. There is no "there" there, nothing for a thug like obama to strike out against.

Mr. Cohen is very upset that the people are wresting control back from the elites. It’s embarrassing to watch him complain, rationalize, and misread all at the same time.
