A Democratic candidate from Mississippi has said he voted for Republican John McCain in the 2008 presidential election, in the most extreme example of the current midterm campaign of a ostensible ally of Barack Obama distancing themselves from the president.
Congressman Gene Taylor represents a district which voted heavily for Mr McCain in 2008. As a conservative Democrat, he has however been re-elected easily 11 times.
But after winning Mississippis 4th district by a massive 49 percentage points in 2008, his seat is now in danger from Republican challenger Steven Palazzo, who has consistently attacked the incumbent for voting with Nancy Pelosi, the House speaker, who has become a figure of scorn on the Right.
In this campaign, he has repeatedly criticised Mrs Pelosi for being too liberal even though he supported her as speaker in 2007 and 2009.
"I will not support her for speaker again" Mr Taylor said of Mrs Pelosi in an interview with the Biloxi Sun Herald. "I'm very disappointed in how she's veered to the left."
Mr Taylors confession came a day after the Democratic candidate for governor in Rhode Island told Mr Obama to shove his endorsement after the president decided not to endorse any candidate, out of deference to an independent candidate who was one of his earlier backers.
"He can take his endorsement and really shove it, as far as I'm concerned," Frank Caprio told local WPRO-AM radio, even as Mr Obama was due to visit the small east coast state for two Democratic party fund-raisers and a visit to a factory.
Mr Caprio was running against Republican John Robitaille as well as former Republican Lincoln Chafee, an independent who backed Mr Obama's 2008 presidential bid, in the November 2 ballot.
"I've never asked President Obama for his endorsement. And what's going

“I’m very disappointed in how she’s veered to the left.”
Taylor must think his constituents are the stupidest people on the planet. When Pelousey has for decades been elected from the most ungodly Leftist hellhole in the country, that should have given him a clue. No one who voted for this harridan as Speaker should be elected to represent the South.
Absolutely, no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American voter.
Taylor has alwasy used “conservative Democrat” and of course there isnt such. He is as slimely as the rest. Good riddance.
That’s a better voting record than most Republicans. Perhaps he should change parties rather than trying to distance himself from Pelosi/Reid/Osama by talking.
2) You are a self admitted socialist gene... you are not one of “us”.
3) Palazzo is in the Military... fought in GWI. You didn't. He will be even more pro Military because he is one... you never were and never will be.
4) You are nazi peloser’s little butt boy... voted with her 82% of the time. You are an ally of the Queen of fagland. We also know about you trading votes to keep the dummies here at home fooled... It did not work gene.
5) You voted against the Bush tax cuts.
6) You are self admittedly for wealth redistribution and a huge death tax.
7) You are a weasel... you voted for clinton twice... I know... I came and sat with you in your office and talked to you about it. You said that you" have to vote for my parties candidate". No difference in 2008 either gene. You voted for obama because once we know you are a liar gene... you are branded a liar for life!

82% with nazi peloser.

His last 100 votes were 82% with pelosi... he admitted that he is for a high death tax and wealth redistribution. Print that!

It doesn’t matter WHAT a demonRAT SAYS- sooner or later, they WILL bend that knee to the leftist platform and demands. We saw this with the so-called “blue dogs”- not that I needed that proof. A rat is a rat is a rat. Period.
Taylor was one of only five Democrats who voted to impeach Bill Clinton.
