Here is the situation on the ground. Before the campaign really heated up, Cao actually led the polls by a wide margin, because his hard work and sincerity have made him very popular among all races and ethnicities in the New Orleans area. Once the campaign heated up and he was re-identified in the black community as a Republican, he dropped behind. But internal polls -- and my own anecdotal sources, as a native New Orleanian and veteran of New Orleans politics -- show him now within a typical survey's margin of error.
He also has momentum. National Democrats, thinking Cao a goner, have withdrawn campaign aid for Democratic opponent, state Rep. Cedric Richmond. But Richmond has a checkered past that the local media finally is starting to really focus on. Amidst other official ethics problems, Richmond lost his law license for lying in election qualifying papers in 2005. He's also under fire, or under investigation, for alleged financial shenanigans involving a non-profit with which he has been closely associated.

Right but had he had not voted for it I do not think it would have meoved forward I can remember when they voted for it and whether it was the amendment for the abortion language or the bill itself but he was pivitol in moving it forward I belive. I am going to look up info because I remeber my husband and I saying this guy just screwed us all
Cao DID vote to pass obamacare...so he lost my vote this year. I considered voting for the criminal Dem (but I repeat myself)just for the entertainment value, but I ended up voting for one of the no party candidates instead. http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll887.xml
Are those handicaps or advantages?
My bar is simple. RINO stands for Republican In Name Only,
Is a "Republican" official voting with the Democrats on a majority of issues? (Kirk, Jeffords, etc.) If so, they're a RINO. If they're voting with the GOP on a majority of issues, they're not a Republican In Name Only.
Some freepers have set the bar so low that Republicans who agree with them 95% of the time are "RINOs" because they don't follow that freeper's bidding on every bill ever proposed. Every politican is a "RINO" by that definition.
As a Texan, you should know the demographics of New Orleans. I hope Cao stays in office.
Some people just have no clue.
Dude, you are so totally clueless. Cao voted in favor of the meaningless first draft bill on healthcare and then voted against the actual bill. It was discussed for weeks all over the news and here at FR.
I don’t live in Cao’s district, but I would certainly vote for him over a rat crook. I guess you prefer the rat?
Oh, I guess that makes it better. I will not get sucked in to power through numbers. I prefer to win in the arena of ideas. Any vote for 0bamacare, I don't care if it was at an office party at Hooters after 5 hours of half priced drinks and half dressed waitresses, disqualifies a candidate from getting my support. As far as I'm concerned, Cao can join 17% of the country by scratching his unemployed a$$ on November 3rd and I will dance a jig in his honor.
What about the most important issue of our time??? Does that count the same as naming a Post Office after Robert Byrd?
No difference cao gives the rats poltical cover and that dog dont hunt anymore. Each his own dude
Cao is supported on a level that any politician would envy.
Any & unless you know the area, you’d never understand it.
The Vietnamese community is LA. Their best people, Veterans from the War, live here. You’ve no idea how much they gave along side of us & they’re Catholics too.
Everything the Left hates is what the Vietnamese community embodies. They’re great Americans.
Question. Is Cao suppposed to represent his district or represent you?
Give me 1 Demint for every 10 caos. Dont need dont want want and this country cant win with them.
So, in a district that votes 75% Democrat (not a typo), you turn your nose up on a pro-life Republican? Yeah, we’d be better off with a 100% liberal Democrat, huh?
Demint could never win in New Orleans. It is not a choice between Demint and Cao, it is a choice between Cao and the corrupt democrat.
From his previous posts, I would say that he thinks we would.
Agreed .
I don’t care about numbers, control of Congress or invitations to Beltway parties. I care about principles. If someone is going to vote as I would 99 times out of 100, but that 1 time we disagree is something as big as 0bamacare, then I cannot support him. What would Barry do?
The other candidate is a literal corrupt crook. It will be much worse than Cao.
In this particular district it will be nearly impossible to ever get a candidate that will vote over 90% for the conservative position. Instead you and other purists would rather a Congressional Black Caucus member who will follow the previous representative’s path of kickbacks and corruption while voting for every socialist law that comes his way.
Not only that what if by chance the house didn’t swing as far right as we think it will? Cao is a vote against Nancy Pelosi as the Majority Leader.
Let me ask you this are you one of those purist conservatives who thought that it wouldn’t be so bad if 0bama won?
Yes, by all means support the liberal Democrat babykiller over Cao. That will show him! And I’m sure next time we’ll elect Jim DeMint in a 75% Democrat, black-majority district in New Orleans.
Oh, and Cao voted against ObamaCare in the final vote.
