Cao Is No Goner (Louisiana update)
The American Spectator ^ | October 21, 2010 | Quin Hillyer

Here is the situation on the ground. Before the campaign really heated up, Cao actually led the polls by a wide margin, because his hard work and sincerity have made him very popular among all races and ethnicities in the New Orleans area. Once the campaign heated up and he was re-identified in the black community as a Republican, he dropped behind. But internal polls -- and my own anecdotal sources, as a native New Orleanian and veteran of New Orleans politics -- show him now within a typical survey's margin of error.

He also has momentum. National Democrats, thinking Cao a goner, have withdrawn campaign aid for Democratic opponent, state Rep. Cedric Richmond. But Richmond has a checkered past that the local media finally is starting to really focus on. Amidst other official ethics problems, Richmond lost his law license for lying in election qualifying papers in 2005. He's also under fire, or under investigation, for alleged financial shenanigans involving a non-profit with which he has been closely associated.

Why would you support a Republican who is considering voting for her?

Why are supporting a Democrat that will definitely vote for her and vote for EVERY Pelosi bill.

Large numbers of Democrat representatives are expressing their displeasure with Pelosi, many of whom have gone on record as no longer supporting her for Speaker of the House.

Are they in 75% democrat districts? I would think not. If they were truly displeased with Nancy, they would go "I". Could it be that they are playing to their audiences?

Yes, Cao voted against Obama’s pork-laden “stimulus” bill, which got him in trouble with liberals in New Orleans who started an unconstitutional “recall” drive. And Cao also vited against Cap and Trade.

It is obvious from your incessant posts that I support this democrat that you are too stupid to understand what I have been saying in plain English. Your ignorance is epic and your tactics are classic liberal: "If you repeat a lie long enough, it will become accepted as truth." I am done wasting my time on someone of such limited intellect. Have a day.

Excellent article that lays out the whole issue of “principled” voters throwing elections. They cut their nose off to spite their face.

Yes he voted for it initially (Believe me I was incensed at the time and said he could go screw himself.) but voted against the final version that became law because of abortion concerns (and maybe wising up to his his base’s opposition).

But it’s New Orleans. A heavily rat seat. To have a pro-life half a conservative there instead of a corrupt race-baiting Obama democrat is remarkable.
