Here is the situation on the ground. Before the campaign really heated up, Cao actually led the polls by a wide margin, because his hard work and sincerity have made him very popular among all races and ethnicities in the New Orleans area. Once the campaign heated up and he was re-identified in the black community as a Republican, he dropped behind. But internal polls -- and my own anecdotal sources, as a native New Orleanian and veteran of New Orleans politics -- show him now within a typical survey's margin of error.
He also has momentum. National Democrats, thinking Cao a goner, have withdrawn campaign aid for Democratic opponent, state Rep. Cedric Richmond. But Richmond has a checkered past that the local media finally is starting to really focus on. Amidst other official ethics problems, Richmond lost his law license for lying in election qualifying papers in 2005. He's also under fire, or under investigation, for alleged financial shenanigans involving a non-profit with which he has been closely associated.

Do you read? I said:
Once again, you are supporting the likes of Collins, Chaffe, Graham, Snowe, and Powell.
Read all the words in the sentence, they are there for a reason.
At least I am not supporting corrupt democrats like YOU!
Very well said.
Didn't he also vote against cap-and-trade and the stimulus?
Tell you what I'm gonna do. If you agree I will send $100 to Cao immediately to help his reelection bid. Everytime he goes RINO and votes with the libs during the next term, you send me $100 dollars. I conservatively (there's that word again) estimate that over the next two years I will get $1500-$2500 from you. Are you in?
OK if you agree I will send $100 to Richmond and every time he votes with the libes during the next time you send me $100. I conservatively estimate that over the next two years you would owe me several thousand dollars.
Wow. Is that really all you have left?
Wow. No defense at all.
Wrong, I have refuted your claim several times. I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I have never claimed that Richmond would vote anything other than liberal, so that is a ridiculous proposition. You, however, appear unwilling to back your "conservative" guy. Interesting.
1. Vote conservative in the primary.
2. Vote Republican in the general.
Why would you want liberal Democrats to triumph?
Mystifying...
Then why do you support his election over Cao. Cao who is pro-life and voted against Obama care, capandtrade and the stimulus.
He doesn't understand how the world works?
You don’t get it though. There are only two choices in this election. It’s either Cao who will vote most of the time with the conservative position or it’s a crooked and corrupt marxist Black Congressional Caucus democrat who will never vote with conservatives.
It’s not about defending Cao as much as it’s understanding REALITY.
And NO I’m not embarrassed because unlike you I understand that in some areas candidates like Cao is the best that we can ever hope to get due to the demographics. The CBC pushes a whole lot of the marxist policies because they are usually 100% guaranteed reelection until they die or are prosecuted for their crimes and corruption, ie Rangell, Waters, Dingell, Conyers and one of your state’s representatives, Sheila Jackson Lee.
It's a minor miracle that there is any choice at all. I don't expect NO to ever go conservative but at least seeing something other than a corrupt democrat in office gives the constituents a more balanced view of the world.
I don’t understand it either. It’s the purists who have screwed the country more than they care to admit due to them not being able to think strategically and logically.
Ross Perot anyone? How many of these purists said that it would do the party good to lose the election to 0bama? I hold those morons as responsible for the mess we are in as much as I do the 0bama morons.
I understand enough to not support anyone who is thinking about voting for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, unlike many of the "majority at all costs" people on this thread. With the republicans expected to take the house in huge numbers, I am willing to sacrifice one district with an 0bamacare voting, Nancy Pelosi for speaker supporting RINO. Everyone on this thread can attack me personally, I don't care. When Cao votes liberal, I will not be surprised.
Uh, it is not 'majority at all costs'. It is putting a republican in as a representative of a mostly black district that votes 75% democrat.
And who will Cedric Richmond vote for...???
Large numbers of Democrat representatives are expressing their displeasure with Pelosi, many of whom have gone on record as no longer supporting her for Speaker of the House. Why would you support a Republican who is considering voting for her? Is the fact that he is from a black district supposed to excuse that? That is weak.
I am not going to convince you, and you are not going to convince me, so I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
He won't.
