Conservative Rep. Gene Taylor (D-Miss.) said he voted for GOP Sen. John McCain for president in 2008, not Barack Obama.
The revelation by Taylor, an 11-term incumbent facing a tough reelection battle, is one of the most extreme examples yet of a Democrat distancing himself from his partys unpopular leaders.
Taylor, who has been taking step after to step to highlight his independence from Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), told a reporter for The Sun Herald of South Mississippi about his secret ballot two years ago.
I did not vote for Obama. I voted for Sen. McCain, Taylor told reporter Maria Recio, she said in an interview with The Hill. Better the devil you know. Taylor was one of the few Democrats on Capitol Hill who declined to endorse Obama in 2008.

Wow, this is the most open attempt to distance himself from Obama I’ve seen in a ‘Rat candidate.
Like that was risky in a state that voted McCain 60-40?
Another Democrat GOTV campaign.
If the Republican is more conservative than he, then I hope he loses.
NO RATS!
NONE AT ALL!
If he cannot see what the democratic party as become, then he needs to be voted out of office.
And we know he’s telling the truth?
This is the guy who told Brownie that FEMA shoulda been in New Orleans handing out 5 gallon cans of gas before Katrina hit.
Weak and pathetic. He has unapologetically voted for Pelosi both in 2007 and 2009. It’s time for him to go.
LOL! Good one!
Politicians will say “ANYTHING” if they think you will believe it long enough to vote for them.
Its kind of hard to understand why they are Democrats if they are all so ashamed of everything their party has done in the last two years.
We need to be on the lookout. I’m sure that more than a few of the “Blue Dog” ‘rats at every level will be trying to sneak into the RINO herd.
Yup.
The dolt could have easily switched parties at any time. I bet he's wishing he did. I'm glad he didn't. Time to say goodbye Gene.
That’s not the vote that counts. The vote that counts is when he voted for Pelosi.......TWICE.
In 2004 he (Taylor) savaged Bush’s National Guard record, endorsing Wesley Clark. Now he’s trying to claim he’s a closet Republican.
Like a chameleon lizard in the garden, he’s green when it’s
in his interest to be green and brown when it’s in his interest to be brown.
It’s amazing what some Rats will stay to get re-elected. They don’t have even an ounce of honor and integrity. I hope he gets swept out with the rest of the trash this cycle, but if not, then we’ll get him in 2012.
If he switches parties, he is toast in the 2012 primary, so I doubt he’ll switch.
Not that it makes much of a difference, but didn’t Taylor vote for Murtha for Speaker instead of for Pelosi? Or was that in 2005?
Taylor is a stinking turd who is long past needing to be flushed.
