Post-election, Obama needs to avoid "the center"

If Republicans succeed in taking over the House and come even close to gaining a majority in the Senate, expect calls for the president to "move to the center." These will come not only from Republicans but also from conservative Democrats, other prominent Dems who have been defeated, Fox Republican News, mainstream pundits, and White House political advisors.
After the 1994 midterm, when Dems lost the House and Senate, Bill Clinton was told to "move to the center." He obliged by hiring pollster Dick Morris, declaring the "era of big government is over," abandoning much of his original agenda, and making the 1996 general election about nothing more than V-chips in televisions and school uniforms.

Such advice will not be persuasive with Obama. That’s because he doesn’t understand that elections have consequences. Sure, he says that, but he doesn’t really know what it means ~ but he may get to pick up on that pretty soon!

Obama will ignore both houses and will treat anything outside his castle as seditious acts. I would go so far as to say he may even possibly commandeer a few TV and radio channels and start a non-stop propaganda tirade against the Senate and Congress. He is and will continue an all out effort of flooding the USA with more illegal immigrants, mostly for advertised "humanitarian" relief purposes. And they will be Moslems, his goal is to raise the Moslem percentage of population as much as possible before he is stopped.

I agree. His intransigence will only further his political demise and usher in President Palin.

Robert Reich is such a buffoon. It's actually painful to listen to this guy on TV. He's the most delusional man this side of Paul Krugman. He's educated beyond his intelligence. His solution to the problem of holes is that when you are in a hole is to intensify the digging.
People like Reich can never admit that they are wrong. No matter the evidence they stake everything on their ego. He would take the country to hell in a handcart just to prove his point. And when he is wrong, he will just say we didn't try it long enough or spend enough. If you increase the time and spending and it still fails, he will tell you again to spend more and take more time. The guy is nuts.

Dont worry itll all be over in SHORT order. You have gone to great lengths to ridicule Mr. Reich. I agree that his opinions just don't measure up. It's a tall order to address all the failings of Mr. Reich. His ideas are stunted and his vision is short sighted. It is no small wonder his writings provide such tiny insight into large matters.

The libs need not worry. Obama has no intention of moving to the center. His spin on the election is this: If the Republicans don’t pick up the number of seats that they anticipate, then they will have to admit that voters want them to agree with Obama on all issues. On the other hand, if the elections DO result in a heavy addition of Republicans to Congress, then it is the job of Republicans to realize that voters expect them to do what it takes to get along with Obama and stop stone-walling his agenda in order to get things done. Obama is, after all, the ultimate narcissist. This is what happens to a person when their entire life has consisted of the token system. He doesn’t realize that he is a mediocre man of mediocre talent - his fast track through life, compliments of the token system, has convinced him that he IS the Messiah.
