(snip)....There will never be a mainstream news media anymore," said Ken Braun, managing editor of Michigan Capitol Confidential and part of the five-person media panel. "It is becoming what I call a multi-stream media. That's the future we are headed to."...

Oh, wait, I forgot, according to him, the Internet is simply a "passing fad." ;)
Have a good week!
I took the liberty of posting this, MichCapCon. Have a great week!

The video is interesting (to me anyway) Kathy Hoekstra is also on the panel and she argues that there is a huge void in today’s newsrooms, unfortunately being filled by “inexperienced young people who never learned how government worked.”
:^)
Actually that depends on the professors. Glenn has guys like Burt Folsom and Larry Schweikart on his show. They inspire curiosity and deeper thought as they encourage us to find the actual words spoken and written throughout history.
So many of today’s teachers simply say ‘this is the answer, now remember it for the upcoming tests’. As a highschool kid I was lucky to have oldschool style teachers who challenged students and expected challenge in return. As a result I came away better prepared than many college students and I was a high school drop out.
To LS: Nice to "see" you again, sir. I'm really sure that the commentator was not speaking about ALL professors.
Forgive me?
I always enjoyed history in school. I, too, was lucky enough to have a few teachers who made it interesting & also pointed me off in the direction of using primary sources, and other texts. (My 6th grade teacher especially)
I was also extremely, extremely, fortunate to have had two very "old school" profs when I returned to school to obtain a "teachable major" in history/social studies. I was very lucky. What is taught in colleges today, under the guise of "History" is, for the most part these days, shameful.
Yes, but never, ever underestimate the damage that can be done by large numbers of ignorant voters....
It’s no accident kids don’t know how American government works. Civics has largely been removed from high school curriculum. Progressives are tring to eleminate it altogether.

I am afraid you are quite right. Thanks for the viedo link.
Well, duh.
I used to be an editor at a small-town Oregon weekly newspaper, and in 1988 I wrote an editorial boldly predicting that one day we would have the technology allowing our readers the chance to see local news 24/7 (although I didn’t use that term back then, since it had not been invented), including video, audio, original texts, and full transcripts of interviews.
My publisher pulled me into his office and told me that he didn’t appreciate me writing about technology which would put him out of business.

In any case, we’re returning to the blessed condition found by Ben Franklin when he walked into Philadelphia with two cents and a loaf of bread under each arm. He managed to be the writer, editor, and publisher of his little paper. Today, any person can now cheaply and quickly film, record, write, and publish anything they want at any moment - something I’m considering when I retire from my current career and I’m retired. In any case, anyone reading science fiction or watching old Star Trek episodes could have predicted a multistream media decades ago.

Thanks for the chuckle, redpoll!
bump for later..

Your Latin tagline is interesting. Those whom a God wishes to destroy...?
Those whom God wishes to lose (or destroy) he first drives mad. (lefties?)
