In Losing the Midterms, There May Be Winning (post-election spin begins early)
NYT ^

Posted on 10/23/2010 1:17:04 PM PDT by Chet 99

WASHINGTON — Let there be no mistake: President Obama wants the Democrats to win next week’s midterm elections. His voice has gone hoarse telling every audience that from Delaware to Oregon. But let’s also acknowledge this: Although he will not say so, there is at least a plausible argument that he might be better off if they lose.

The reality of presidential politics is that it helps to have an enemy. With Democrats controlling the White House and Congress, they shoulder responsibility for the country’s troubles. No amount of venting about George W. Bush or the filibuster rule has convinced the public otherwise. But if Republicans capture Congress, Mr. Obama will finally have a foil heading toward his own re-election battle in 2012.

“The best possible result for Obama politically is for the Republicans to gain control of both houses,” said Douglas E. Schoen, a Democratic pollster and strategist who helped President Bill Clinton recover from his own midterm Congressional defeat in 1994 to win re-election two years later. “That’s what Obama should want.”

I want every Dem who hopes for Obama’s reelection in 2012 to take this story to heart and stay home on November 2nd.

Then why has the NY Times spent the past two years blaming everything on Bush, Cheney, and the Republicans?

There is a valid case to be made that the Repubs will have hell to pay when the economy finally tanks. We are in a huge mess and fixing it is going to be painful. They will get the blame from the uneducated, unpatriotic, unscrupulous, you know, the democrats.

Of course it’s about Obama’s reelection in 2012.
The progressives engage in their version of ‘two minutes of hate’ daily to ensure that goal.
Dem Voters aren’t smart enough to figure out how our government works.

Somehow, having someone else to blame your failures on is hardly a position of strength.

You made me LOL. Reminds me of the Bob Hope clip in the movie about zombies, “ Oh, you mean like Democrats”. He was answering another actor who was talking about how zombies behave.

You’ve got to admit that winning this election is like winning a bucket full of crap.

Everybody knows his policies will make us go broke and result in higher taxes, but he has it all worked out so that we haven’t seen any of the cost yet.

As soon as we attempt to defund his agenda, people will forget about the looming bill and start screaming “Republicans are trying to take away our FREE stuff!!”

This guy's an idiot!!! The only reason the great stain maker won reelection was because the Republican congress forced him to the center, and the GOP had a lousy candidate in Bob Dole. If Hillary care had gone through things would have been different.

The narcissist Hussain won't move to the center and we'll have 2 years of gridlock, which is better than 0bama getting everything he wants like the past 2 years.

"There is a valid case to be made that the Repubs will have hell to pay when the economy finally tanks."

If the economy "finally tanks" it's not going to be blamed on the Republicans even if they end up in charge of both Houses of Congress. It's going to sit squarely in the lap of Barry Soetoro and his appointees.

The reality is, if the Republicans do really well the "all Barry all the time" democrat celebration that's been going on for the past two years will backfire big time. Barry has no where to hide and damn few democrats left who want to hide him. Better Barry than me will be the mantra of those democrats who are still in office. His only way out is a "come to Jesus" attempt or a "nervous breakdown" from facing all the hatred and racism his wife sees everywhere.

Regards

What would be even better is him losing in 2012. Then he could be free from the responsibility of leadership.

The 1Q11 tanking of the economy is already baked in because of the expiring GWB tax cuts. Anybody who could move income from next year to this year has already done so.

Consequently the drop in tax receipts is going to be horrible.
