Many Latinos these days are ‘conservative Christians’ and they have religious leaders that are leading the troops to the Right. I think it’s great. Fewer abortions, more family oriented.

Good! Now maybe they’ll get the G-dam border sealed.

Even worse news for the jackass party is that those here legally are abandoning the PRI in even greater numbers.

Not this b.s. again. NR had a great study during the Bush admin about how far gone "Latino culture" really is. Hispanics that are libertarian or conservative? Sure, like me, there are a few here and there, but by and large "Latinos" are in a competition with other race-oriented groups to see how much they can suck from the system.

Anybody that puts ridiculously unimportant and romantic notions about their "race" above anything else is never going to be a functional member of a representative republic.

Latinos Go Conservative

Really? Does that mean they are going to insist on doing away with the "Hispanic-American" moniker? Are they going to denounce and insist the disbanding of the Hispanics Caucus, LaRaza, MEChA, LULAC and all the other race advocacy groups? Otherwise their so called 'conservatism' is a bunch of hypocritical BS.

To start with, Mexican-Americans have never been monolithic. This is a very wise political move on their part. But when you ask them what they care about, it does not look good for either Obama or the left.

Like everyone else, they are very aware of high unemployment, and are distrustful of policies that may cause even higher unemployment.

Next, they have a greater understanding of the near civil war going on in Mexico right now. They, like most Mexican citizens, still remember their last bloody civil war, and they are deeply opposed to another one. This puts them on the side of law and order.

Mexican Americans are even very split on the idea of stricter border controls. Many are strongly in favor of them, for several reasons. Many, especially those with family still in Mexico, want at least the option of their families coming north. But again, the cartel wars are making the north of Mexico so dangerous even for border crossers, that it is becoming intolerable.

Then, Mexican-Americans also have America only issues that are far more mundane. But here as well, they are split like the rest of the country in how to deal with them.

Unmentioned is what these new groups believe concerning amnesty for illegals, and what they believe concerning border security and immigration policies in the future.

The is the same thing Rove and others used to peddle when pushing for amnesty for all illegals (and also fighting every move at border enforcement), all the naturally conservative Latinos, all those natural Republicans.

It’s too soon to tell, and there’s not enough information to know whether these groups are different, or whether they’re just using a different approach from La Raza, but have basically the same goals.

Thru work, I met a Latino fella about 10 years ago. He was a staunch dem and got heavily involved in election matters.......canvassing, get out the vote, driving other Latinos to the polls.

6-7 years ago he started his own business, which has become very successful. He still gets involved in election politics, but now it’s for conservatives.

Good.

Over and over and over again I have said that the Republicans must go after the Hispanic vote and the African-American vote very very aggressively. ... these people are not sheep, these people are not slaves.

We have some great candidates this time but we could use many many more. We have to encourage these people to think like we do, we have to encourage them to value freedom, liberty, prosperity, integrity.

I have many friends among them and not all of them are weak minded plantation slaves that enjoy being talked down to by the demon rats in the Democratic Party. Spoken to properly, preached to properly, encouraged properly, and they will go out and vote for the Republican and the conservative candidate if they have a chance and an understanding of what is at stake.

"At the beginning of 2010 the president enjoyed support from 69% of Hispanics. By May that number was down to 57%. Now just 55% of Hispanics support the president and his liberal agenda. This news by itself is devastating to the Democrats’ prospects in the 2010 midterm elections."

If this trend continues, 2012 could be an even bigger problem for Obama and the Dems.

Anyone who thinks Latinos vote conservative is delusional. Historically Latinos vote 60-85% LIBERAL. The new generation of invaders and looters vote almost 100% liberal - they do not want the freebies cut off.

The conservative voting Latino is a myth. There are a few exceptions but not significant enough to chase.

Wishful thinking, assuming a national trend by looking at one man's poll numbers.

Hispanic numbers are just following everyone else's, and reflect Obama's cratering support.

Everyone's ashamed to admit they voted for or support the prez, it doesn't predict future behavior IMHO

They should find abortion offensive. Reading Margaret Sanger’s (Planned Parenthood founder) screeds, you learn that those of Mediterranean, African, and Asian descent, you know, Italians, Jews, Negroes, Orientals, and “hispanics”, were her prime targets for population reduction.

She called them “the brown masses huddled in our cities”.

Isn’t that sweet?

What a darling!

The left has never met a genocidal tyrant that they didn’t admire. Even Hitler is being “rehabilitated” in their narrative, because of his pro-Mohammedan, anti-Jew positions.

They have to.

We *ALL* have to.

The United States, in spite of all the attempts of the meddling busybody statists, is still the last bastion of freedom and liberty on earth.

It always has been.

it will take a lot more than a platitude laden blog from a conservative latino to convince me that most latinos are now voting GOP or conservative

it's never happened so far

and all that talk about family values and Catholicism is just BS from folks who must live in Whitelandia

I was married into Latinos...the only groups I ever saw approximate Conservative were older Cubans, rich South Americans fleeing war and kidnapping at home and a few Old Line Mex-Tex families of whom we have a few that freep here.

other than that they vote like Blacks

and “black” Hispanics like Dominicans and many Puerto Ricans do just that

pandering over identity is such a waste and we have fought over that here...bloody at times...for a decade now

There are definitely latino Conservatives out there, but sadly, the vast majority are deeply entrenched in the Philosophy that the Democratic party is the party of Latinos and the working class.

They still perceive the Republican party is the party for Mr.Whitey only.

It’s absolutely hillarious to listen to some political idealogue say the word “latinos” in heavily accented Spanish, while speaking English, then reverting back to English in an instant. It’s done with a certain pretentious flair that connotes brilliance as if one is above the surrounding society.

It’s like listening to someone describe his American citizenship in hyphenated form, or someone else describing another’s citizenship in that way.

It all has a tinge of obnoxious political elitism.

The question is, if you’re hyphenated, why don’t you go back to your hyphen?

Just asking.

IMHO

Don't believe it. And since when is 55% for the Dems a good thing? The reality is that Hispanics vote Dem and they are the fastest growing portion of the population.

Reps are deluded if they think that they can gain any where near the majority of the Hispanic vote.
