It appears Juan Williams firing is just what the public needed to realize their tax dollars are being poorly handled through subsidies from the federal government given to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to prop up National Public Radio.
However, Red Eye host Greg Gutfeld makes the most reasonable case not to deprive NPR of its taxpayer subsidies. On the Oct. 23 broadcast of his program, Gutfeld explains to his viewers his case for not defunding the radio organization, but not without taking some jabs their decision to fire his Fox News colleague.
So, many people are calling for the defunding of NPR after all, why should Americans have to pay for something that's so fundamentally anti-American? Gutfeld said. Let's face it: They didn't fire Juan Williams for expressing an independent opinion, they fired Juan Williams for expressing an independent opinion that didn't jibe with theirs.

Please understate Red Eye and Greg before you call him a liberal. This wild show is an irreverent look at current events to present conservative thought to the young hip generation. His comments are over the topto reach the crowd that would otherwise get their news from Conan O’Brian. They keep it sexy and fun in order to show the conservative/libertarian side. It is very funny and outrageous. I record every episode to watch at a better time. Think of it as an outreach program.
And I don’t think he even has freckles. ;^)
I didn’t call Gutfeld a LIBERAL you NUT JOB, I was talking about JUAN WILLIAMS!!!!!!!!! Can’t you read???????????????? Shhheeesh! I love Red Eye! Good Grief!
Oops “understand”. My 50 year old fingers have trouble with the iPhone keypad.
!!!!
Just read other post admitting you are Red Eye fan. Never mind.
However, consider that it will be fun watching Juan turn into a strong, black conservative. Welcome him to our side....,
Military adage: “Never surrender any advantage to your enemy.”
Do not underestimate NPR. They have 797 radio stations across the US, pouring out their propaganda often to people that have few other sources for “news”.
They get special treatment from the FCC, getting very valuable bandwidth allocations, likely worth hundreds of millions of dollars, that could be going to far more worthy enterprises.
And it should not be understated that this is taxpayer money going to support one of the party propaganda organs of the Democratic National Committee.
Nor should it be forgotten that not long ago, liberals, the left, and the Democrat party had a virtual government monopoly on the media, because of the corrupt “fairness doctrine”. With that gone, they tried to reestablish their monopoly through business acquisitions, that eliminated huge numbers of independent and local media.
So the bottom line is that NPR, as well as PBS, and the National Endowment for the Arts, need to be eliminated entirely, or completely restructured so that they get neither government funding or other government supports than any competing commercial enterprise.
it will be fun watching Juan turn into a strong, black conservative.
Would you settle for 1 out of 3?
Having watched Juan over the years, he has had a difficult time defending the current situation with his beloved party. He has spouted the party line, but his body language betrayed the conflict. This personal event has forced him to face the ugly truth.
I want all three.
That’s like saying we need to burn down a house every week to remind us what arson looks like.
“I don’t care how little comes from the taxpayers it is too much. Further, the “grants”, subsidies, underwriters and the like, tax breaks, discounts etc, all need to be unwound and removed.”
Not only do they enjoy all the advantages you stated above BUT they are never included in the ratings. I would love to see that happen before they get the axe. I’m tired of them being treated with such reverence, spoken of in such hushed tones.
Reminds me of a sportscaster interviewing Yankee players after last night’s Ranger game.
For that purpose, we have AMTRAK. We don't need NPR's subsidized subversion..
I thought that was the purpose of the DMV
Let NPR join Err America in the trash pile
