NPR faced fierce public and political reaction - most of it strongly negative - in the wake of its firing of commentator Juan Williams for comments he made on a Fox News program earlier in the week.
Even NPR's own staff expressed exasperation at the decision during a meeting Friday with NPR's president, Vivian Schiller. Several of those who attended said Schiller told employees that she regretted how she handled the episode.

WHO ARE WE GOING TO BELIEVE - NPR, OR OUR LYING EYES?
Caryn Mathes obviously wants taxpayer's money without accountability or consequences.
Must be a DC thing...

I guess it was too “common” to say “CHANGE”.
I remember him making that comment, but it went down the black hole of PC the next day...probably the only time Jesse told the truth about anything...
I listen to classical music on my local NPR affiliate and turn it off when the news comes on.
Aww, John, you’re short-changing yourself again. This well-reasoned comment’s worth at LEAST a nickle!!!
Well, if they say it, it MUST be true. After all, we’re pretty angry at the anointed ones, so it must follow that our otherwise inexplicable anger at them is due to our ignorance, nay, more our STUPIDITY and racism and sexistness and HATRED for those who know so much more than we could ever hope to imagine!
We must learn to LOVE the left, to WORSHIP the anointed Ones, to come over to the dark side, where all is great and wonderful... for the elites, the Chosen Ones, the Ones we could never become. We must allow them to do our thinking for us, for their thoughts are pure and true and so superior to our feeble attempts at thought.
I must go now and barf, for I can no longer continue in this vein!
It’s getting harder and harder to get good people to work in Manhattan.
Yeah, let them get jobs at Air America. /sarc
exactly! If the foundations that provide a huge part of their funding couldn't claim a tax deduction, they might not give at all. Their contribution is probably much greater than direct taxpayer funds.
You are so amazing! You managed to wreck their entire argument without mentioning that he’s black!
It seems to me that, ordinarily, his skin color would be the first reason why folks should be admonished for his firing.

Shame on them.....but we know for a fact what the left is now.
They aren’t tolerant of anyone who doesn’t share their views no matter their skin color, ethnic background, etc.
If that’s how the other side views things, then I’m okay. lol
BTW, I don’t often agree with Juan, but he appears to be a decent and loving man. I’m so sorry to see what’s happened to his life, and am very proud of FNC for standing by him.
